Primary Purpose.
The RYA Senior Rating (RYA SR) is responsible for the planning coordination delivery and safety of all RYA & RHIB activity delivered by the Regional Training Hub HMS CAMBRIA.
Secondary Purposes:
- To support the delivery of regional and national RYA training.
- To lead on the provision of routine and emergent maintenance and/or safety work associated with the operation of RHIBs and their operating equipment and infrastructure.
- To support the delivery of training in the Unit within the Region and to the wider RNR.
ACCOUNTABILITY
- The RYA SR is accountable to and under the functional authority of the Unit Operations Officer (UOO) HMS CAMBRIA for the purposes of undertaking their primary and secondary purposes.
- When providing support to AOP/ARP and other national INT training they are accountable to SO1 INT and Cdr Training RAL/ BRNC.
AUTHORITY
The RYA SR is authorised to liaise directly with those Service and Civilian Authorities at the appropriate level in matters relating to the primary and secondary purposes of the role.
ORGANISATION
- The UOO HMS CAMBRIA is the line manager for the RYA SR.
- The 2RO is the Commanding Officer of HMS CAMBRIA.
PRINCIPAL TASKS
As follows:
- To be the lead PS responsible for the planning coordination delivery and safety of all RYA and RHIB activity delivered by HMS CAMBRIA.
- To act as the Units Sea Survival Equipment (SSE) Supervisor.
- To be the Regional SME for the VBS as part of Unit Core training and to maintain and update the equipment as required.
- In conjunction with the RTC lead on conducting and coordinating Risk Assessments for RYA and RHIB training and activities.
- Responsible for liaising with the relevant contractors to ensure all maintenance and/or safety work relating to the Units RHIB or its infrastructure is booked in fulfilled and tracked through to completion.
- To support HMS CAMBRIAs Chief RYA Instructor and undertake duties as a Power Boat Instructor (PBI) in accordance with RYA regulations.
- To support the delivery of training to Untrained and Trained Strength reservists within the Unit Region and to the wider RNR at Lead Schools and other venues as required for example support to the RNR Advanced Programmes (Ratings and Officers) at HMS RALEIGH and BRNC Dartmouth.
- To undertake duty permanent staff roster duties as required.
- To be a qualified first aider.
- The primary purpose will involve weekend and evening working and travelling to other Units and venues as required to undertake their primary tasks.
- To support other Permanent Staff in the fulfilment of their purpose and duties when directed.
