This is a Stanford Health Care job.A Brief OverviewThe Senior Director of Clinical Services is accountable for the nursing and clinical services provided by the SHC. This includes responsibility for planning organizing leading and directing the nursing care in larger operational units (100 employees) multi-units and functions and the support services providing the infrastructure for the delivery of quality compassionate and cost-effective patient care. The Senior Director will have higher mixed of operational responsibility versus strategy responsibility with additional complexity based on scope. The Senior Director will have an in-depth understanding of multiple organization functions operational units and external market conditions to support operating strategies. The Senior Director will establish and maintain a care delivery model designed to meet the clinical and service needs of clients and implement standards and policies which ensure safe and efficient practices. The Senior Director will collaborate with quality management and external regulatory and accrediting entities to ensure all mandated services and standards are met and exceeded.

What you will do- Collaborates with Human Resources on the recruitment and selection of qualified employment candidates following all policies guidelines and applicable laws.
- Regularly measures staffs performance against established criteria-based performance standards; utilizes evaluations as an objective management tool for counseling staff members to higher levels of performance to facilitate their professional development and maximize their contribution towards established institutional goals. Always takes immediate action in serious disciplinary situations; documents actions taken and the rationale for the decision.
- Develops and implements policies that guide and support the provision of services; ensures that policies and procedures are compatible with the function and goals of SHC and which meet the external regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Translates strategy into execution; develops operational plans and implement new processes programs and standards in support of the strategy
- Provides leadership direction and the administration of operations to ensure compliance with established institutional objectives and the delivery of optimal quality health care services.
- Effectively provides direction and policy interpretation to managers in managing their respective areas of responsibility; offers advice in handling special human resources matters and administrative concerns.
- Ensures that departments/areas comply with or exceed all regulatory requirements including but not limited to JCAHO CAP OSHA FDA.
- Guides the preparation of Hospital/departmental budgets and allocation of funds based upon reviews of department estimates/recommendations familiarity with operating procedures and cost/revenue projections.
- Reviews all department requests for capital expense items and submits same with recommendations to the Vice President.
- Integrates departments services with the hospitals primary functions by supporting organizational mission priorities and goals and by delivering optimal quality health care services.
- Provides and maintains effective communications with medical staff the community and all levels of supervision and staff. Regularly tours the facilities and service areas to identify opportunities for change and development.
Education Qualifications- Masters degree in nursing from an accredited college or university required.
- DNP and/or PhD Doctor degree in Nursing Preferred.
Experience Qualifications- 10-12 years work experience 5 years of progressively responsible directly related work experience in hospital clinical operations positions required.
- Experience in the following environments required: labor unions shared leadership governance and an academic center.
- ANCC Magnet experience is preferred.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities- Ability to establish the goals vision and overall direction of a department.
- Ability to create and implement departmental standards systems staffing plan and processes.
- Ability to develop directors managers and staff
- Ability to drive a culture of proactive integrated high quality patient care innovation change and transformation at SHC
- Ability to quickly learn new tools and theories in process improvement/change management
- Ability to communicate effectively demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to design develop and administer programs

- Critically and comprehensively evaluate the departments outcomes.

- Ability to form and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with members of the executive team hospital staff and others.
- Knowledge of hospital administration fiscal and personnel management
