Responsible for all aspects of staff management departmental management and for creating a professional practice environment that focuses on safe effective patient care as well as customer service. Supervises and directs the operational activities of the department. Organizes and coordinates pharmacy staff activities to meet the responsibilities of the department including pharmacy related automation and software used in daily role provides health system leveloperational and clinical oversight across inpatient pharmacy services ambulatory infusion centers cancer infusion services and collaboration with ambulatory care areas supporting evidence-based pharmacy practice model and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to advance quality safety regulatory compliance.
Assists the Director of Pharmacy in enforcing the organizations policies and procedures for the receipt storage preparation dispensing and disposal of pharmaceuticals. Additionally responsible for carrying out the duties of the Director in their absence.
Key Responsibilities
Provides systemwide coordination of clinical pharmacy services supporting inpatient operations ambulatory infusion centers and cancer infusion services.
Leads and supports compliance with applicable USP standards (including USP <795> <797> and <800>) state and federal regulations and accreditation requirements. Serves as a subject matter expert for sterile compounding hazardous drug handling and infusion therapy practices.
Supports oversight of pharmaceutical waste streamsincluding hazardous drug disposal and environmental compliance ensuring standardized processes across all practice sites.
Supervises and coordinates pharmacy staff and workflows and software systems that support safe and efficient medication-use processes. Assists the Director of Pharmacy in policy implementation and operational oversight and serves as the Directors designee as assigned.
Administrative responsibilities include planning coordinating organizing monitoring and implementing all activities in area of responsibility and employee performance management. Maintains efficient and effective department operation which includes compliance with and requiring employee compliance with all state federal and local regulatory laws standards protocols and licensing or certification standards
Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines to be accurate and to handle constantly changing situations. Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people deal with stressful situations and handle conflict.
Will perform all job duties or job tasks as assigned. Will follow and adhere to all requirements regulations and procedures of any licensing board or agency. Must comply with all Benefis Health Systems organization policies and procedures.
