DescriptionResponsible for the successful design development and validation of turbocharger components assemblies and product lines within the GBE. Applying strong engineering skills to develop and launch turbochargers as a collaborative team member of a larger turbocharger development and launch team interacting with cross-functional development engineers to achieve common goals. Responsible for delivering and communicating results internally and to customers.
Key Areas of Responsibility and Roles- To drive design and development activities (design FEA CFD APQP etc.) for development of turbocharger technologies as part of new product development and customer launch. Design simulate & qualify the turbocharger components and assemblies to meet internal validation requirements and customer needs. Define and update product specification and operational limits relative to the successful validation of turbochargers to market needs quality documents design reviews and technical reports (External FA PRA DFMEA & DFMs).
- Propose & integrate technical and cost effective solutions with the support of the different functional domains working in a multi-functional environment and utilising appropriate simulation tools and methodologies. Define and execute qualification activities required for product release. Order prototypes set up test conditions and analyse test results.
- Internal and external support to developing and launching turbochargers at customers with close collaboration with the multi-functional teams including supply base SQD Manufacturing team and other functions supporting the launch. Provide technical support for Technical Offers Design Reviews or qualification activities.
- Prepare documentation in clear and technically accurate manner and communicate it to internal and external customers.
- To develop improvement activities linked to Garrett qualification processes tools and procedures.
Position Requirements Education and Qualifications- Bachelor Degree or above in Mechanical Engineering Automotive Engineering or other related engineering discipline is required.
Experience Required- Experience in the Automotive industry ideally in gasoline and/or diesel engines development turbomachinery mechanical design or testing experience is preferred.
Professional Skills and Knowledge- A fundamental knowledge in mechanical and aerodynamic design of turbochargers
- A fundamental knowledge of internal combustion engines
- Ability to learn new skills and processes in development simulation methods and tools
- Knowledge of simulation tools
- Knowledge of design tools and methodologies
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and rotor dynamics
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
- Proficient in speaking and writing English is essential. Additional language skills (French or German or Czech) are also preferred
