The Zero Defect Project Leader will report to the Rutland Quality Leader and drive the deployment of the Zero Defect initiative within GE Rutland and its supply base to ensure engine products meet manufacturing and quality requirements. This role involves coaching and mentoring a cross-functional internal team to foster a Zero Defect culture within the Rutland plant. The Zero Defect Project Leader will lead the standardization of tools and processes to be implemented across the plant ensuring alignment with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and AS9145 standards.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Will lead a team of Quality Control Engineer Process Engineer and Inspector A to implement 0 defect culture across Rutland plant
  • Serve as an APQP mentor and coach for various projects across multiple part families and engine programs.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on APQP and AS9145 providing technical guidance and expertise on Zero Defect deployment implementation and project execution.
  • Develop roadmaps and program plans to successfully integrate Zero Defect deliverables and requirements into existing policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with leaders across functions to identify the best approaches for implementing changes within New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Change Management processes.
  • Lead shop floor and supplier deployment of the Zero Defect culture ensuring alignment with manufacturing and quality requirements.
  • Manage project timelines deliverables and resources and escalate issues as needed to overcome constraints and challenges.
  • Leverage a strong understanding of manufacturing processes to develop and implement elements that enable defect-free part production.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and ensure alignment with Zero Defect principles.
  • Develop training content and drive the standardization of Zero Defect tools and processes across the Rutland plant.
  • Coordinate training sessions with team leaders inspectors operators and other functions to ensure consistent application of Zero Defect practices.
  • Establish and manage business metrics to track the status impact and progress of Zero Defect projects.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on project performance business impact and any significant issues.
  • Successful deployment of Zero Defect culture across the Rutland plant and supply base.
  • Reduction in defects and non-conformances in manufacturing processes.
  • Improved alignment of APQP and AS9145 standards within NPI and Product Change Management processes.
  • Development and implementation of standardized tools and processes across the plant.
  • Effective training programs and increased adoption of Zero Defect practices among plant personnel.
  • Clear and actionable reporting of business metrics related to Zero Defect projects.
  • This role is based in a manufacturing plant environment and may require occasional travel to supplier locations.
  • The Zero Defect Project Leader must be comfortable working in a hands-on capacity including time spent on the production floor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering and/or quality.
  • Occasional travel to supplier locations.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in APQP within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of APQP and AS9145 standards with a proven track record of successful APQP project completion in the automotive and/or aerospace industry.
  • Experience in Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes and quality requirement
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large programs across organizations managing deliverables resources and funding.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels both internal and external to GE.
  • Proven ability to work independently across a wide network and organization.
  • Background in product quality including quality policies metrics and quality management systems
  • Experience in product/part costing and cost analysis with emphasis on identifying key cost drivers.

The salary range for this position is 119000.00 - 158000.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience their education and the work addition this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive plan.
