The role:
Opportunity for a Mechanical Tradesperson to join our production team based in Darwin supporting the ongoing maintenance and defect rectification of sea boat platforms for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). This position is critical to ensuring our fleet remains reliable seaworthy and delivered to the highest standards of safety quality cost efficiency and timeliness.
In this role you will be responsible for the inspection execution and delivery of maintenance activities while contributing to the achievement of key performance requirements across the programme. Youll also work collaboratively with ACPB stakeholders to maintain positive relationships and uphold Thales core values across the enterprise.
Responsibilities will include:
Performing maintenance and defect rectification activities in accordance with work instructions technical specifications workshop manuals and repair methodologies.
Ensuring compliance with all Quality Occupational Health Safety and Environmental policies and practices.
Diving sea boats in Darwin Harbour waters when required.
Driving and towing sea boat trailers on NT gazetted roads.
Fault diagnosis problem solving and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Working effectively both autonomously and within a team environment.
Completing and submitting accurate closing/service reports (OQE).
Carrying out offsite work or participating in projects outside the Darwin metropolitan area as required.
Supporting the delivery of programme objectives relating to cost time safety and quality.
How about you
Certificate III trade qualification (minimum).
Strong understanding of Health Safety and Environmental legislation.
Proficient computer skills across the Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable:
Experience in asset maintenance for naval or maritime systems.
Mechanical or diesel engine experience.
Forklift licence.
Dogman qualification.
Coxswain Grade 2 certification.
