Position Summary
The Director of Development & Engagement is a pivotal leadership role responsible for advancing OCMs
mission through strategic fundraising major gift development and meaningful donor relationship
cultivation. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in philanthropy relationship management
and nonprofit leadership along with a passion for connecting people to purpose.
As a key member of the leadership team this position reports directly to the CEO and plays an active role
in shaping guiding and implementing strategic initiatives that support OCMs long-term vision. This is a
salaried director-level role with a work schedule that includes time inside the Museum off-site
engagement for fundraising and opportunities for remote work.


Duties and Responsibilities


Strategic Development and Fundraising
Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow contributed revenue and drive efforts to secure
major gifts.
Provide oversight and ensure the continued success of established grant-funded access
programs including the Welcome Fund Partner Schools and Specialized Programs maintaining
alignment with the Museums mission and goals.
Partner with and support the CEO Board of Directors and other key staff to advance fundraising
goals and inspire participation.
Establish and monitor fundraising goals metrics and performance providing regular reports to
the CEO and senior leadership.


Community Engagement and Visibility
Elevate the Museums profile and reputation among donors stakeholders and the community.
Be an active visible presence at community events fostering relationships that enhance the
Museums impact.


Collaboration and Coordination
Collaborate with the Rainbow Connectors Guild to align their efforts with the Museums
development plans.
Work cross-departmentally to integrate strategies for direct mail digital campaigns corporate
sponsorships planned giving and special events.
Work with museum leadership to select and implement a new nonprofit CRM with a fundraising
management platform.


Team Leadership and Development
Foster a culture of giving among staff and Board members equipping them to serve as effective
ambassadors for the Museum.
Inspire and build a high-performing development team

Operational Excellence
Oversee donor management systems ensuring accurate tracking stewardship of contributions
and analysis to identify opportunities for increased engagement and revenue.
Manage communication with external museum stakeholders working closely with the CEO.
Research philanthropic trends and suggest innovative strategies to strengthen fundraising
efforts.
Prepare and present routine reports and development metrics to the CEO and senior leadership.
Work with the Finance department on annual contributed revenue and fundraising expense
budgets.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Proven success managing contributed revenue budgets of $2M.
Demonstrated expertise in fundraising donor engagement and relationship building with
individuals foundations and corporate sponsors.
Exceptional leadership and people management skills with a track record of empowering and
developing teams.
Experience in Board management and alignment with organizational development efforts.
Commitment to advancing OCMs diversity equity and inclusion objectives promoting cultural
competence and inclusion.
Strong oral and written communication skills including the demonstrated ability to research and
analyze information compose reports and correspondence and present proven data in a clear
and inspiring manner.
Ability to anticipate and analyze situations define problems and objectives recognize viable
alternatives and formulate rapid solutions while understanding the inherent risks and
implications of making tough decisions.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Detail- and results-oriented using data to monitor donations and prospect new donors.


Physical Qualification
Perform repetitive tasks including administrative work and designing resources using computer
software programs.
Push or pull equipment such as a small flatbed and wheeled cases
Lift and carry items up to 20 pounds including audio visual equipment and file boxes.


Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Non-profit Management Business Administration Communications or related field
or equivalent experience. Experience with Microsoft Office applications and fundraising software.


Compensation: $110000 - $130000 plus benefits
Qualifications and experience will be considered in the compensation for this position.
