Responsibilities of an Assistant Branch Manager

All retail bankers are considered the face of Southwest National Bank and are responsible for ensuring a consistently exceptional customer experience across all touch points.

Community banks such as ours rely on relationships built by helping our customers reach their financial potential through the use of our products services and expertise. Our goal is to serve our community while providing an excellent customer experience. Assistant Branch Managers are responsible for:

  • Fostering teamwork across all areas of the bank.
  • Maintaining strict standards of confidentiality and performing duties in a manner that supports Southwest National Banks core values.
  • Engage customers and enhance relationships by asking questions and recommending possible solutions or referring them to the proper person for further assistance.
  • Assist the Branch Manager in creating and maintaining a welcoming engaging and professional environment.
  • Support the branch manager with developing the retail banking team by providing visible and positive support.
  • Ensure a consistently exceptional customer experience.
  • Communicate with customers to grow relationships and generate new business within branch market.
  • Assist customers throughout their financial journey.
  • Handle customer complaints and inquiries when Branch Manager is unavailable.
  • Maintain a strong visible and positive presence in the community through involvement in community events.
  • Comply with all bank policies regulations and laws applicable to carrying out duties and responsibilities.
  • Work with the Branch Manager to create a welcoming engaging and professional environment for customers and your team to experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of in retail banking.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and have the ability to travel to surrounding branches in Wichita.
  • Thorough product/service knowledge and thorough knowledge of regulatory policy and compliance issues.
  • Solid understanding of retail product philosophy including policies procedures documentation and systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of teller and platform functions including but not limited to processing transactions balancing cash opening accounts and sales techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal communication leadership relationship management time management and sales ability skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and resolve problems and issues with minimal guidance.
  • Working knowledge of employment practices including rewards and recognition team member development and change management.
