LOCATION: Brockville Board Office 225 Central Avenue West Brockville Ontario.

REPORTS TO : Manager of Human Resources

FTE: 1.0 (35 hours per week)

SALARY : $72561.00 - $94327.00 commensurate with experience.


JOB SUMMARY

The Compensation and Wellness Specialist supports the delivery of the Boards Attendance Support Program by reviewing absence information coordinating meetings and assisting leaders employees and union partners with program requirements. The position contributes to the planning and implementation of employee wellness initiatives including the Wellness Committee and the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) and participates in the review of wellness-related data and practices. This position facilitates the established job description job evaluation program and pay equity maintenance.

KEY AND PERIODIC ACTIVITIES

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate Attendance Support Program activities including scheduling meetings tracking progress assisting Principals and Managers with required steps and supporting communication with employees union representatives and specialist colleagues within Human Resources. (40%)

Monitor absence trends using the HRIS and report observations to the Manager of Human Resources and Specialist team to support decision-making related to program adjustments and process improvements. (10%)

Support employee wellness initiatives by researching wellness approaches as directed by the departmental and board initiatives preparing information and materials coordinating the Wellness Committee and collecting feedback to assist with program evaluation. (10%)

Provide coordination assistance for the Boards training tracking platform including gathering information and supporting data maintenance course creation in the platform and reporting. (10%)

Support administration of long-term disability contracts by tracking required information and assisting with reporting needs. (5%)

Coordinate EFAP activities by acting as the contact point with the provider sharing information with leaders and assisting management with obtaining EFAP support when crisis-related coordination is required. (5%)

Job documentation and evaluation processes facilitates the established job description job evaluation program and pay equity maintenance. (15%)

Conduct research on policies and best practices related to compensation attendance wellness and HR practices by reviewing practices of other districts and relevant organizations as directed by the departmental and board initiatives. (5%)

SKILL

Knowledge

Specific knowledge of:

  • Attendance support programs wellness concepts and related policies and procedures
  • Legislation related to attendance accommodation and employment (e.g. Human Rights Code Case Law Employment Standards Act)
  • General HR practices and processes
  • Job evaluation documentation and related data analysis
  • Basic compensation research and data review practices
  • Use of HRIS systems for information gathering and reporting

Formal Education/Certification & Experience

  • Minimum undergraduate degree
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field
  • CHRP/CHRL or active progression toward designation considered an asset
  • Minimum 45 years of related experience
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Extended periods of sitting and keyboarding
  • Visual focus when reviewing program data reports and written material
  • Listening and responding to questions during presentations meetings or discussions

COMPLEXITY

Work varies in complexity from recurring administrative tasks to more detailed assignments requiring interpretation of information reference to legislation collective agreements workplace data and consultation with HR colleagues. Activities may include facilitating meetings reviewing workforce indicators assisting with job documentation and contributing research to wellness program development.

RESPONSIBILITY

Accountability & Decision-Making

This position provides guidance information and recommendations to employees managers and program stakeholders. Changes to processes direction or wellness programming require approval from the Human Resources Manager. Independent decision-making relates primarily to organizing work coordinating program elements and preparing supporting information.

Impact

Work has impact within the HR department and across the organization influencing program understanding employee experience attendance support and wellness activities. Quality and accuracy of documentation research and information sharing affect HR decision-making and service delivery.

Development & Leadership of Others

This position does not supervise staff.

May assist with work direction for casual support project coordination or committee activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Typical office environment. Occasional travel to meetings or presentations is required resulting in limited exposure to weather.
