Job Description
The Nevada State Public Health Laboratory (NSPHL) which includes clinical newborn screening food and environmental testing laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Application Specialist. The specialist will be responsible for administering configuring and maintaining the Laboratory Web Portal (LWP) a cloud-based platform that supports secure and efficient exchange of laboratory data between the NSPHL and its statewide public health partners. The position develops and optimizes workflows forms reports and data integrations to ensure accuracy interoperability and compliance with established data and quality standards. The LIMS Application Specialist also manages system security documentation and user access while providing technical support troubleshooting and training to internal and external users. Working closely with Server Administrators vendors and public health partners this role ensures the LWP remains reliable compliant and responsive to evolving laboratory and data sharing needs across Nevadas public health system.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in system administration and configuration both for the purposes of the user interface to accommodate orders as well as ensuring configurations meet standards for compliance and accreditation requirements. The ideal candidate will excel in communicating complex information to stakeholders with varying degrees of technical literacy including data reporting resolving user questions and training staff and external partners. Understanding the operations and compliance requirements of a regulated clinical diagnostic laboratory utilizing sound judgment and prioritization to ensure both will position the incumbent for success.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree and four years of related professional work experience OR
Masters Degree and two years of related professional work experience
Related Experience
Progressively responsible experience administering or supporting an enterprise or laboratory information system (i.e. LIMS LIS HER public health reporting platform or other mission-critical business application) including configuring workflows forms or reports; OR
Hands-on experience with data exchange/interoperability between systems including monitoring and troubleshooting HL7 XML ELR/ETOR HIE or similar health data interfaces
Preferred:Experience working in a high-volume regulated clinical laboratory
Schedule/Travel Requirements:
Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel
Provide after-hours IT support as needed
Note: All Nevada State Public Health Laboratory (NSPHL) personnel are considered essential personnel. As essential personnel staff will report for duty even when the campus is closed. NSPHL is responsible for assisting first responders and other public health officials by analyzing samples and providing services to the public in emergency situations public health emergencies and are required to maintain published turn-around-times (TATs) for sample analyses. All NVPHL personnel are subject to off hour scheduling and/or call back to respond to public health emergencies or assure TATs are achieved 24 hours per day seven days per week. Personnel may be placed in standby status when necessary to maintain and protect Nevadas public health.
