About the Role
Were seeking a Hockey Annotation & Analysis Expert to help refine AI understanding of real-world hockey footage. Youll work with advanced video models to ensure that the AI correctly recognizes player movements plays and outcomes in professional and amateur hockey games. This is a hands-on detail-oriented role ideal for someone with deep knowledge of hockey gameplaywhether from playing coaching officiating scouting or analytical work.
Responsibilities

Review and refine AI-generated hockey video annotations including play events zone entries transitions shots and defensive actions.

Label and validate events such as passes shots on goal faceoffs hits goalie saves penalties turnovers and scoring sequences.

Verify timing accuracy between video clips and described actions (e.g. shot release puck contact save moment body check).

Ensure contextual precision identifying subtle differences (e.g. deflection vs. screen shot takeaway vs. unforced error scoring chance quality).

Provide structured objective feedback to improve AI understanding of hockey-specific terminology and situational play.

Collaborate asynchronously with researchers and engineers to enhance model training data quality.
Qualifications
Must-Have

Deep familiarity with hockeythrough playing coaching refereeing scouting video analysis or analytics experience.

Solid understanding of rules player positioning systems and play terminology (e.g. forecheck systems breakout patterns power plays penalty kills).

High attention to detail and ability to describe hockey sequences precisely and consistently.

Comfortable working independently on remote data annotation platforms.
Preferred

Prior experience with AI training data labeling or video annotation tools.

Recognition or certification in hockey (e.g. USA Hockey coaching/officiating certification collegiate or junior-level experience).

Experience with sports analytics or video review systems such as Hudl Instat SportsCode or NHL Edge/advanced tracking tools.
