Telework: The duty station is in Spokane Washington and the successful candidate will need to travel to the Tumwater office one day per month for critical job duties. Details of teleworking considerations will be addressed during the interview process.
The UnclaimedPropertyAuditorprimarilyperforms statewide field audits independently evaluating business activities and accounting records to determine if reporters comply with the Uniform Unclaimed Property Act and have correctly reported their you will arrange and conduct compliance consultation visits of business entities to ensure they have complied with the Unclaimed Property position requires travel to business locations around the state to conduct unclaimed property compliance audits give speaking presentations and training on unclaimed property reporting and conduct educational consultation visits. The incumbent can also expect to assist supervisors revenue agents leads examiners and support staff in resolving complex issues regarding the reporting and remittance of unclaimed property.
Note - It is expected that the position will have some overnight travel and require the use of a personal vehicle for work if a state vehicle is unavailable.

One year as an Excise Tax Examiner 3 OR
Two years of Department of Revenue experience at the senior or lead level in accounting auditing compliance tax administration or unclaimed property OR
Six years of non-Department of Revenue experience at the senior or lead level in accounting compliance auditing tax administration or unclaimed property provided 6 semester (9 quarter) hours of accounting business law money and banking or finance coursework has been completed.
Bachelors degree involving major study in business or public administration or a closely allied field.
Advanced working knowledge of KAPS.
Understanding of Washington Unclaimed Property Laws.
Intermediate knowledge of laws rules policies and procedures related to the Department of Revenue.
Experience in auditing or a closely allied field.
Experience in state unclaimed property programs or escheatment.
