Job Summary
This position requires a dynamic flexible and highly skilled individual to assist in the administration of the daily activities and processes that fall under the offices of Special Education at the elementary and middle school. This position will assist with administrative and clerical duties including knowledge of the functions and operations of the special education department and familiarity with the laws rules and regulations affecting the special education department.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES(include but are not limited to):
- Schedule Team Meetings with all stakeholders
- Create and send digital invitations
- Create and send Team Meeting invitations in District special education software
- Adhere to all stated timelines and deadlines as appropriate
- Provide proactive and timely communication to stakeholders for matters pertaining to special education such as; reminders for upcoming meetings
- Organize file and maintain accurate student records in compliance with District practices
- Coordinate Progress Reports for students receiving special education services
- Establishes and maintains a variety of computerized data collection systems and other record systems assuring confidentiality of designated files
- Disseminate evaluation reports and other documentation to families and staff
- Oversee process of receiving special education student records of incoming students
- Request special education records from other schools in and out of county/state
- Create a positive and welcoming culture in person or via verbal or written communication
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- General clerical work such as filing phone calls stakeholder correspondence
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Student Services Assistant Director of Student Services Special Education Team Chairpersons
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; Bachelors Degree preferred
- Proven ability to work in a positive respectful and friendly manner with many different stakeholders
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Well-organized and detail-oriented
- Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills
- Working knowledge of relevant technologies: internet and email systems; word processing presentation and spreadsheet software; and Google educational software
- Willingness to learn SMS program for Special Education
- Employment-based on successful completion of CORI and fingerprinting background
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school department may find appropriate and acceptable
This position is included in the AFSCME Administrative Union and is a 10 month year position.
Compensation: Starting hourly rate per the AFSCME Administrative Contract for SY 25-26 school year is $27.76-$33.06 per hour. Full range for this position is $27.76-$42.61 per hour.
