Job Summary
Specialist Teaching Assistant Supporting Complex Needs & SEMH Plymouth
A specialist provision within an inclusive academy in Plymouth Devon is seeking a highly skilled and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and complex learning difficulties.
Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant required.
Part-time or Full-time contracts available starting January 2026.
Focus on one-to-one or small group support for EHCP students.
Required to implement therapeutic and behaviour management strategies.
This demanding but incredibly rewarding role requires confidence in managing challenging situations and implementing personalized learning plans often involving liaison with external agencies and pastoral teams.
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential: Significant experience supporting students with SEMH Autism (ASC) or severe learning difficulties.
Training in Team Teach Positive Behaviour Management or Thrive is highly advantageous.
Exceptional resilience patience and empathetic communication skills.
Ability to accurately record and report on student progress and incidents.
