Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an HSE Officer to join the team based in Richards Bay South Africa. The role is responsible for updating PPE registers medical surveillance reports and other reports that may be requested by the Regional HSE Manager Laboratory Manager and Branch Manager.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight the incumbent will need to display the following:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Responsibilities
- Implementation and maintenance of HSE Systems for the Laboratory and Operations
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation - Maintain and review risk registers regularly
- Training awareness
- Support of Operations and Laboratory - Collaborate with Laboratory and Operations teams in integrate HSE practices into daily workflows
- Compliance Monitoring - Report non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions
Required Competencies
- Good knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- Computer Literate
- Good timekeeping and time management skills
- Quality: Right first time approach completes work to a high standard continually looking for improvements and strong problem-solvers high level of attention to detail is key within this role
- Managing uncertainty: Handles pressure and ambiguity well exercises good judgment and handles challenges in a mature manner
- Critical thinking: Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Team Player / Interpersonal: Builds and maintains positive working relationships with their own team and more widely
- Honest adaptable and flexible and be able to carry out multiple tasks and goal orientated
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 (with Maths English and Science)
- SAMTRAC or an appropriate Tertiary Qualification in Health and Safety Management NEBOSHIGC will be an added advantage
Required work experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an occupational health and safety role within an Operation/Laboratory environment with a proven track record of HSE requirements and implementation
Required Languages
- Highly proficient in English (Verbal and written)
