The Vice President of Construction Operations is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for directing and overseeing all construction activities across the company. This role ensures the successful delivery of projects nationwide meeting or exceeding expectations for safety financial performance quality and schedule. The Vice President provides strategic leadership fosters strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and drives operational excellence across all regions.
This position requires exceptional business acumen risk management expertise and the ability to execute the companys contractual obligations while advancing organizational goals. The Vice President will serve as the primary authority for construction operations guiding regional leaders and project teams to achieve consistent highâquality outcomes.
The Vice President oversees all construction operations personnel across the enterprise including:
Regional Operations Managers
Senior Project Managers
Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers
Project Controls Managers and Coordinators
Field Office Managers
Superintendents
Subcontractors and vendor partners
Enterprise leadership: Set vision strategy and performance standards for construction operations companyâwide.
Team development: Build mentor and retain highâperforming teams across all regions.
Proposal and estimate review: Provide executive oversight of bids estimates and preconstruction services.
Contract administration: Ensure compliance with prime contracts and company policies.
Stakeholder relationships: Maintain strong partnerships with customers owners engineers vendors and service providers.
Negotiations: Lead contract and change order negotiations at the executive level.
Ensure all contractual obligations and deliverables are identified tracked and fulfilled.
Hold customers partners and staff accountable to agreements.
Oversee resource allocation and staffing across projects.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies insurance and bonding requirements.
Evaluate enterpriseâlevel risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Drive successful project completion and timely collection of payments.
Oversee change management processes ensuring approvals are secured before work begins.
Provide executive oversight of preconstruction services including value engineering constructability reviews scheduling and budgeting.
Lead performance reporting and forecasting across all regions.
Establish and enforce companyâwide job cost reporting standards.
Drive innovation in efficiency productivity and profitability.
Monitor productivity and labor performance implementing corrective measures as needed.
Ensure project profit/loss accountability and proactive cost management.
Oversee efficient use of company equipment and resources.
Ensure all projects meet or exceed contractual schedule requirements.
Direct enterprise scheduling practices including updates for change orders and resource availability.
Promote consistent use of Look Ahead schedules and contractually required updates.
Champion companyâwide quality standards and ensure compliance with all requirements.
Oversee development and approval of project quality plans.
Drive a culture of excellence and continuous improvement across all projects.
Build and maintain trust with customers owners engineers and partners.
Provide executive leadership that promotes safety quality teamwork and respect.
Strengthen relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure longâterm success.
Lead the organization in achieving industryâleading safety performance.
Instill a culture of safety across all projects and regions.
Review and approve enterprise safety plans and corrective measures.
Ensure compliance with environmental obligations and regulatory requirements.
Bachelors degree in a technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
PMP certification or ability to obtain within one year.
Demonstrated expertise in construction management engineering principles and contract administration.
Strong financial acumen with proven ability to manage large complex portfolios.
Exceptional communication negotiation and leadership skills.
Competency in managing Lump Sum Unit Price and Time & Material projects.
Ability to present effectively in project pursuits interviews and executive forums.
