DriveWhip is a mobility provider in the Washington DC area with offices in multiple cities including Atlanta that Leases/Rents vehicles to Uber Lyft and other On-Demand or Rideshare drivers. As a ground floor member of an exciting new company all associates will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities. An appreciation for the pros and cons of start up culture is a must.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Physical Damage (PD) Claims Specialist to serve as the subject-matter expert for all auto physical damage exposures across our rideshare fleet. This role is critical to the accuracy integrity and speed of our claims operation.

This role goes far beyond estimate review; it integrates intake investigation and hands-on operational coordination to keep claims moving and ensure vehicles progress through the repair or evaluation process efficiently.

Youll manage PD claims from FNOL through resolution while partnering with Liability Subrogation and our operations teams to maintain accurate reserves support exposure identification and keep all parties aligned as the claim develops.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

  • FNOL Triage & Intake

    • Lead PD intake ensuring accurate documentation and completion of member statements.
    • Identify potential liability exposure and collect the information needed for early triage.
    • Set and adjust reserves based on severity exposure indicators and developing claim details.
    • Assess repairability and determine when a vehicle should move through standard repair or be routed for total loss evaluation.
    • Ensure claims are set up correctly and aligned with internal workflows.

    Physical Damage Expertise

    • Review estimates supplements and inspection findings for accuracy necessity and proper repair methodology.
    • Identify inflated labor times improper procedures duplicate charges and inappropriate part usage.
    • Analyze damage patterns and documentation to form a clear and consistent PD assessment.
    • Serve as the PD resource for the claims team offering guidance on repair methodology and damage-related inconsistencies.

    Liability Integration & Exposure Recognition

    • Recognize how PD findings impact liability decisions overall exposure and reserve needs.
    • Flag inconsistencies or damage indicators that suggest potential liability concerns.
    • Maintain accurate reserves throughout the lifecycle of the claim.

    Operational Coordination

    • Coordinate with operations as needed to gather information and support routing for repair or total loss evaluation.
    • Communicate proactively with members claimants and shops to keep claims progressing efficiently.

    File Management & Communication

    • Maintain clear complete and compliant documentation in every claim file.
    • Ensure timely follow-ups accurate notes and consistent rationale for all decisions.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 35 years handling auto liability claims.
  • Experience with TNC (Uber Lyft) claims is preferred.
  • Familiarity with auto repair estimates and shop processes is helpful.
  • Knowledge of bodily injury claims is preferred but not required.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years handling auto physical damage claims estimate review or related adjusting experience (preferred).
  • Strong competency in identifying estimate inaccuracies inflated charges and improper repair procedures.
  • Experience reviewing and challenging estimates with shops IA firms or carriers.
  • Familiarity with CCC Audatex/Mitchell and standard repair procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the overall auto claims process and how PD findings influence liability and exposure.
  • Experience with rideshare/TNC claims strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication organization and file-handling skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced high-volume startup environment.

Work Environment:

Typical work environment includes desktop computing work using typical desktop computing equipment (laptop keyboard mouse monitors desk chair) in an office environment and/or remote workspace environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit and use typical desktop computing workspace equipment - e.g. mouse keyboard monitor phone - for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a typical desktop computing workstation.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing using virtual meeting and communication tools such as email Google Meet and Slack.

Salary: $70000 - $85000; depending on experience.
