This position supports the open need for continued global technical support & growth expansion of Core Cockpit and Trim Engineering to encompass a truly Global Core & Applications Engineering organization. The core Instrument Panel Team needs additional TS-level personnel to support Instrument Panel Air Bag Deployment system given the issues on number of vehicle programs with PAB deployments. This position will lead the development & implementation of robust system level design for passenger airbag interface to the IP. Additional needs for this position include supporting the development & implementation of IP System expertise & training strategies globally to increase acumen technical methodologies & design process as well as manufacturing-readiness process controls covering requirements for airbag deployment. This position will also provide expertise for design rule implementation CCRG/Field action evaluations fixes & launch-readiness. These duties include alignment with Global STA counterparts & Suppliers. This position develops and supports the global organizations depth of knowledge on the Cockpit and Trim Commodity and focused expertise for specifically Instrument Panel Airbag Deployment needs.

The Instrument Panel Air Bag Deployment Technical Specialist is a recognized technical expert who can interface with all levels of management and outside activities on issues related to Passenger Air Bag Deployment through the Instrument panel.



Responsibilities

In this position...

  • Assist management in the identification resolution and presentation of department technical strategies objectives and issues.
  • The objective of the position is to provide a technical resource to guide design of components and systems to deliver performance.
  • Design and develop IP systems and components to eliminate failure modes related to PAB deployment.
  • Recommend develop and verify applications for new advanced designs across all vehicle lines globally.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that materials and designs meet performance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including engineering drawings and test protocols.


What youll do...

  • Conduct testing and validation of new materials and parts. Drive efficiency through analytical validation and correlation to physical testing.
  • Provide technical support to application teams globally troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to Instrument Panels and Passenger Air Bags.
  • Provide training mentoring and consulting to department engineers supervisors and other Tech. Specialists.
  • Support Campaign Prevent.
  • Support CCRG for PAB deployment related issues.
  • Provide technical advice to ASO OGC and Design Analysis.


Qualifications

Youll have...

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the Design Development and Testing of Automotive Interiors with at least 6 years specifically in Design and Development of Instrument Panel System including Passenger Airbag deployment
  • Experience with and understanding of Air Bag Systems.
  • Strong understanding of design principles and materials used in automotive interiors.
