POSITION SPECIFICS

The Director of Integrated Behavioral Health provides strategic leadership for a comprehensive holistic model of psychological care within Intercollegiate Athletics. The Director oversees a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering clinical services well-being programming crisis response education and integrative care initiatives that support student-athletes mental emotional and relational health.

This role works collaboratively across Athletics Sports Medicine Academic Services and campus partners to cultivate an environment where student-athletes can thrive as whole peopleacademically personally and athletically.

Strategic Leadership & Administration

  • Provide vision leadership and operational oversight for psychological health clinical services and well-being initiatives within Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Develop and implement departmental goals aligned with University and ICA strategic priorities.
  • Oversee budgets resource planning and staffing to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Ensure compliance with licensure documentation standards clinical policies and applicable regulatory expectations.
  • Recruit supervise and mentor clinical providers and well-being staff; promote a collaborative team-centered culture.
  • Maintain systems for assessment reporting and continuous program improvement.

Clinical Care & Psychological Support

  • Oversee provision of evidence-based clinical services including individual counseling psychological assessment crisis intervention and case management for student-athletes.
  • Participate in and coordinate with multidisciplinary treatment teams (e.g. psychiatry eating disorders substance use sports medicine).
  • Share in after-hours on call coverage for urgent student-athlete psychological needs.
  • Ensure coordinated care pathways and timely referrals to campus and community providers as appropriate.

Holistic Well-Being Prevention & Education

  • Lead the development and delivery of programs that promote emotional health resilience adaptive coping stress management and interpersonal skills for student-athletes.
  • Provide education consultation and guidance to coaches administrators and staff regarding student-athlete well-being team climate and supportive communication strategies.
  • Develop proactive initiatives that contribute to healthy team cultures life skills development personal growth and sustainable well-being.
  • Integrate prevention-based programming that supports early identification of mental health needs.

Collaboration & Integrated Care

  • Serve as a key partner with Sports Medicine Academic Services and campus health and wellness units to ensure seamless and coordinated care for student-athletes.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support a comprehensive integrated model of psychological health.
  • Promote communication shared planning and collaborative decision-making across departments and care teams.

Critical Skills & Competencies

  • Significant experience providing clinical psychological services to high-performing or student populations.
  • Expertise in crisis intervention consultation and educational programming.
  • Strong judgment and discretion in managing sensitive confidential and complex situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams supervise staff and cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build rapport quickly with student-athletes coaches and staff.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary environments.
  • High level of organization and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to diversity equity inclusion and culturally informed care.
  • Adherence to ethical legal and regulatory standards governing psychological practice.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) from an accredited psychology program.
  • Licensed or license-eligible Psychologist in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Experience working with student-athletes or within an athletics or university setting preferred.
  • Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) not required but may be considered an enhancement.
  • Minimum eight years of experience providing clinical counseling psychological support and/or well-being services preferably in a higher education or health services setting.

MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Doctor of Philosophy (PHD) or Doctor of Psychology (PSYD) 8 years of relevant experience includes 3 years of supervisory experience Required Certifications: Licensed Psychologist - Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position including all possible grades is $86300.00 - $129500.00.
