Job Summary

The Illinois State University Athletics Department is committed to academic and athletic excellence as it prepares todays student-athletes to become tomorrows leaders. This position directly contributes to that mission by coordinating the management of intercollegiate athletic events and facilities. This position is responsible for planning organizing; staffing and managing assigned intercollegiate athletic events and activities and assisting with the administration of Missouri Valley Conference Championships & IHSA State Championship events.

This position is responsible for all aspects of Horton facility operations. This includes day-to-day operations event scheduling maintenance requests and responsible for the safety and security of the facility. This position assists in planning and monitoring of repair rehab and maintenance projects.

$43890 - $45000 annual

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelors degree or equivalent in hospitality marketing public relations communications business administration student affairs sports management or a closely related field.
2. One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in Athletic Events and Game Operations at the collegiate level or general knowledge of Athletic Facility Operations
3. Valid drivers license
4. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with a variety of populations.
5. Demonstrated organizational and planning skills

Preferred Qualifications

1. Masters degree in Hospitality Marketing Public Relations Communications Business Administration Sports Management Recreation Management or a related field or in progress.
2. One (1) year or more of previous event management experience and/or facility operations in collegiate or professional athletics.
3. Supervisory experience including hiring promotion and scheduling of staff for events competitions and services.

Work Hours

Core hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm. Frequent night and weekend availability required.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods
2. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
4. Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment such as golf carts

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
