Job Summary: The Lead NDT inspector plays a dual role by performing advancedlevel non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections while providing leadership and direction to NDT team members on the shop floor. This position ensures compliance with industry codes company standards and customer specifications through handson inspection mentorship and workflow coordination. The ideal candidate demonstrates technical expertise strong leadership skills and a commitment to quality and safety. Essential Functions: - Perform complex NDT inspections using methods such as MT PT UT RT and/0r VT in accordance with established procedures and applicable codes.
- Lead and mentor Level I and II NDT personnel providing technical guidance training and support.
- Act as a point of contact for floorlevel NDTrelated decisions coordinating with production and quality teams to ensure timely inspections.
- Interpret and evaluate results of inspections and generate clear accurate reports and documentation.
- Ensure all inspections comply with customer industry and internal standards (e.g. ASIVIE ASTM AWS ISO).
- Assist with the development review and revision of NDT procedures and techniques.
- Monitor equipment condition and calibration status; initiate corrective action or maintenance as needed.
- Support audits and customer visits by providing technical expertise and documentation as required.
- Promote and enforce safety quality and continuous improvement practices throughout the NDT area.
Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience training and/or testing) - Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints specifications and technical procedures.
- Familiar with applicable codes and standards (e.g. ASME API AWS).
- Strong communication organizational and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead a team in a fastpaced manufacturing or maintenance
- environment.
- Absolute minimum experience a candidate must have to be considered for the job; these are the dealbreakers.
Education: - High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: Level II or Level III in one or more NDT methods (ASNT NAS 410 ISO 9712 or equivalent).
Experience: - At least 7 years of handson NDT inspection experience with proven leadership or team coordination responsibilities.
Background Prerequisites: - Must undergo and meet company Standards for background check employment verification reference checks and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications: - Previous experience in a working leader team lead or supervisory role within an NDT or quality team.
- Crosscertification in multiple NDT methods.
- Working knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001 AS9100 etc.).
- Familiarity with digital reporting systems or NDT data management tools.
