The Public Safety Communications Training support specialist reports to the Services & Support Division Manager and plays a key role in supporting new hire training continuing education and quality initiatives for our 911 Center. This is a full-time in-person position based at our Public Safety Communications facility.
This position normally works a standard Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. schedule. Individuals who apply will go through an online assessment process. Candidates must be able to successfully complete a psychological evaluation as part of a conditional offer of employment.
Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of this position is to assist with various training programs within the Buncombe CountyPublic Safety Communications (PSC) Department as well as assisting with the 911 Emergency Communications QualityAssurance (QA).
Minimum Education Training and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years of publicsafety telecommunicator experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Dispatch experience in lawfire and EMS preferred.
Additional Training and Experience:
The following certifications or their equivalents are preferred. Some may be required to be maintained while in the position:
Public Safety Telecommunicator Certificate
National Incident Management System (NIMS)
Emergency Medical Dispatcher Certification
Emergency Medical Dispatcher Q
Emergency Police Dispatcher Certification
Emergency Police Dispatcher Q
Communications Training Officer Certification
DCI modules 1 2 3 and 6 (preferred)
DCI ATAC (preferred)
General Instructor certification (preferred)
License and/or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:
Must possess and maintain a valid Terminal Operatorcertification provided by SBI/CJIS. Public Safety Telecommunicator Certificate EMD Certificate and OEMS Certificate.
