Position: Machinist 2 Salary Grade: 5
Purpose: Correctly operate assigned machines to produce high quality parts while meeting or exceeding productivity expectations. Reports to designated supervisor or lead.

- Understands how to verify and load tooling and enter tool data.
- Able to create more complex part setups utilizing all available tools and devices.
- Full ability to read and understand programs and able to write and edit simple programs.
- Fluent with all measurement devices.
- Capable of effectively training employees.
- Good understanding of machine controls and axis movement.
- Good knowledge on feed rates and spindle speeds.
- Able to run parts that are new to themselves or the company.
- Minimal quality issues.
- Able to recognize and document patterns in process and problem solving.
- Participate in regular employee reviews including setting and achieving goals.
- Arrive at work and position consistently on time; remain present and engaged the entire assigned shift.
Skills: Essential qualifications and functions gained through training and experience
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
- Previous manufacturing or machine assembly experience required (equivalent to a junior machinist at Burr Oak Tool).
- General computer skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities tactful mature and flexible.
- Ability to remain calm and determined to attain goals.
- Able to read and interpret engineering prints including making accurate measurements.
- Documentation of a current drug screen must be provided prior to start date.
