Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiberglass Mold Operator / Mold Maker to support the design fabrication and production of fiberglass (FRP) components. This role is responsible not only for operating fiberglass molds but also for creating modifying and maintaining molds including working with CNC-machined tooling.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with fiberglass composites mold construction and CNC-supported manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Build modify and repair fiberglass molds plugs and tooling
- Prepare molds by cleaning inspecting and applying release agents
- Lay up fiberglass materials (mat cloth roving) according to work instructions
- Mix and apply resins gel coats and catalysts per specifications
- Monitor curing processes and adjust parameters to ensure part quality
- Safely demold parts and inspect for defects (voids Delamination surface flaws)
- Trim grind sand and finish fiberglass components to specification
- Operate assist with setup or support CNC machines used for mold and part fabrication
- Load/unload CNC machines and handle precision tooling and machined components
- Read and interpret CNC setup sheets blueprints and routers
- Perform in-process and final inspections using measuring tools and visual standards
- Collaborate with machinists engineers and quality personnel to resolve tooling or process issues
- Perform routine mold CNC and equipment maintenance
- Document production inspection results and process deviations
- Follow all safety procedures including PPE chemical handling machine guarding and lockout/tag out
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Mold Maker Fiberglass Mold Operator FRP Technician or Composite Technician
- Experience with CNC mills routers or 5-axis machines
- Experience with vacuum infusion RTM or closed-mold processes
- Knowledge of surface finish requirements (Ra cosmetic finishes)
- Familiarity with GMP ISO or regulated manufacturing environments
- Experience in marine aerospace automotive or industrial composites
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to fiberglass resins dust and machining operations
- Use of PPE including respirators gloves eye protection and hearing protection
- Standing bending lifting and working in confined areas as required
