Ronald McDonaldHouse Toronto encompasses a House for 81 families in downtown Toronto and sevenFamily Rooms in hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area and in Sudbury. Thefamilies we serve come from throughout Ontario across Canada and around theworld.

We are currently seeking a Manager Educational& Recreational Programs to lead our in-house school seasonal campsenrichment programs and caregiver wellness initiatives. This is a highlyimpactful leadership role that ensures children youth and caregivers receivedevelopmentally appropriate inclusive and trauma-informed support whilestaying at Ronald McDonald House Toronto.

The Role

Reporting to the ChiefProgram Officer/School Principal the Manager is responsible for the designimplementation and continuous improvement of educational recreational andcaregiver-support programming for families staying at Ronald McDonald HouseToronto. This role oversees the in-house private school seasonal camps familyenrichment activities and caregiver wellness initiatives.

The Manager also developsand leads specialized staff training to ensure services are mission-aligned andtrauma-informed and supervises all programming personnel.

Key Responsibilities Include

Program Leadership

  • Designimplement and evaluate our educational recreational and caregiver-supportprograms (in-house school seasonal camps family activities parent educationsupport & wellness initiatives).
  • Ensureprograms are trauma-informed inclusive developmentally appropriate andaligned with Ronald McDonalds Houses mission.
  • Lead annualprogram planning and deliver staff professional development around high-qualityfamily-centered care.
  • Maintaincompliance with Ministry of Education and Ontario Camps Association standards.

Staff Leadership & Supervision

  • Hire trainsupervise and mentor teachers counsellors facilitators program volunteersand program staff.
  • Overseescheduling coverage and cross-program coordination.
  • Participatein the rotating on-call schedule.

Program Administration

  • Manageprogram budgets resources and supplies.
  • Monitoroutcomes through data collection analysis and reporting.
  • Prepareupdates for leadership donors and regulatory bodies.
  • Submitmandatory Ministry of Education and Ontario Camps Association reporting.
  • Develop andmaintain program policies procedures and safety protocols.

Educational & Behavioral Support

  • Ensureprograms accommodate diverse learning accessibility and developmental needs.
  • Collaboratewith teachers hospital partners family services staff and families toidentify individual learning strengths and needs provide guidance on availablesupports and assist with transitions between in-house schooling and hometownschools.
  • Provideleadership during behavioural or emotional challenges using trauma-informedapproaches.

Collaboration & Community Engagement

  • Work closelywith internal teams and external partners to ensure coordinated care and aseamless family experience.
  • Engage withfamilies to assess needs gather feedback and promote meaningful participationin programming.
  • Serve as theprimary liaison with external partners such as hometown schools hospitalsocial workers and regulatory agencies (e.g. Ministry of Education)
  • Arrange andoversee annual student placements from colleges and universities to ensureappropriate support in the school/camp
  • Represent RonaldMcDonald House Toronto at community educational and sector events.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ronald McDonald House Toronto understandsthat for any role its possible that no one person will possess all of thedesired qualifications. The following is an outline of the qualifications webelieve are important to bring to the position and/or develop while in the role.

Education& Experience

  • A bachelorsdegree in Education is a requirement for this position (Masters degreepreferred).
  • Registrationwith the Ontario College of Teachers is preferred.
  • 35 years ofexperience in school/camp management education or child/familyservices including team leading experience.
  • Demonstratedexperience having designed and managed child- and family-centered programs(camps programs curriculums).
  • Additional 5years background/experience as a teacher department head camp counsellor orprogram lead/coordinator.
  • Strongexperience with classroom management and progressive disciplineprocedures.

KnowledgeSkills & Abilities

  • Completion ofsatisfactory reference check and a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Solidleadership and coaching skills with the ability to inspire mentor and developstaff and volunteers.
  • Provenknowledge and understanding of the Ontario Curriculum Ontario Camp Standardsand Education Act and its application.
  • Provenknowledge of special education and IEP development implementation process.
  • Demonstratedability to support individuals and families in crisis with compassion andprofessionalism.
  • Excellentinterpersonal decision-making and problem-solving skills with the ability toremain calm and compassionate in high-stress situations.
  • Strongorganizational and communication skills with attention to detail andfollow-through.
  • Workingfinancial acumen and experience managing departmental/project operatingbudgets.
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data management systems;ability to leverage technology for operational efficiency.
  • CPR and FirstAid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Ability towork flexible hours including evenings weekends and on-call as required.

The successful candidate will need toundergo a successful reference check a satisfactory background check andimmunization process as per hospital policies.
