Job Duties
The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation seeks an Information Technology Solutions Architect (ITSA) to support its mission by designing implementing and maintaining technology solutions across the organization. Reporting to the Director of IT the ITSA will translate business needs into technical strategies oversee IT infrastructure and software systems and ensure the functionality of critical applications including ticketing financial retail and artifact management systems. Key duties include coordinating system upgrades implementing security measures developing IT policies and managing network servers and databases. This role requires strong technical expertise organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders ensuring that JYFs IT environment aligns with its strategic goals and supports its educational mission.
Minimum Qualifications
Technical knowledge - Broad understanding of IT topics including software development databases operating systems and infrastructure platforms.
Knowledge of software management systems concepts and routine software management architecture security and reporting concepts; understanding of hierarchical security levels within software packages.
Thorough knowledge of operating systems such as Microsoft Windows Apple MacOS and enterprise server applications as well as MS Office 365 Android and Apple iOS. Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud products.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills - Ability to analyze complex systems connect business needs to technical solutions and identify creative and effective approaches. Promptly advises IT Manager of inadequate resources or inability to complete work on timely basis. Seeks clarification and asks questions when unsure of direction.
Customer Service - Considerable knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes setting and meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction and maintaining effective relationships with all stakeholders.
Interpersonal Relationships - Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with employees and all levels of management to include representatives from other departments and organizations.
Communication - Ability to communicate ideas and proposals verbally and in writing effectively so others can understand; to include the preparation of reports agendas and policies. Ability to listen and understand information and ideas being presented verbally and in writing. Able to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information. Exercises judgment to ensure that proper communication channels are maintained allowing for two-way communication.
Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to understand analyze and evaluate situations and then to research information to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to the situation.
Judgment and Decision Making - Exercises appropriate judgment in establishing priorities and resolving complex matters. Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Ability to make appropriate informed decisions regarding priorities and available time.
Confidentiality and Social Perceptiveness - Handling interactions with poise tact and diplomacy and in a confidential manner. High degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people including senior executives staff and Commonwealth of Virginia partners. Ability to maintain proprietary and confidential information.
Time Management - Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and coordinate multiple priorities simultaneously support team members and track complex tasks. Ability to plan and organize daily work routinely. Ability to implement work activities in accordance with priorities and estimated schedules.
Additional Considerations
Must have excellent computer proficiency.
Coursework or technical degree experience preferred and previous experience with software support and Microsoft network experience. Current CompTIA Network and/or Security or other applicable certifications a plus.
Experience with enterprise applications and designing solutions to meet business requirements in complex environments in a managed enterprise computer environment a plus.
