Job Overview

We are seeking an analytical and highly detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to manage full-cycle accounting while leading strategic financial initiatives. This role combines daily financial operations with advanced tasks such as forensic auditing financial forecasting and building long-term financial roadmapsideal for someone who thrives on accuracy structure and strategic problem-solving.


Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting & Reporting

  • Manage full financial records including chart of accounts general ledger and all bookkeeping functions in QuickBooks Online.

  • Conduct monthly expense analysis to identify trends inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Perform accurate bank credit card and vendor reconciliations.

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements (P&L Balance Sheet Cash Flow).

Strategic & Audit Functions

  • Conduct a full forensic review of historical financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Prepare quarterly financial projections based on KPIs and operational trends.

  • Support development of a 1236 month financial roadmap aligned with business growth goals.




Requirements

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in accounting finance or bookkeeping roles.

  • Bonus: Experience with accounting in education daycare or non-profit sectors.

Technical Expertise

  • Expert proficiency in QuickBooks Online.

  • Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets (financial models pivot tables custom reports).

  • Strong experience using Google Workspace for documentation and reporting.

Professional Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Exceptional accuracy attention to detail and reconciliation skills.

  • Excellent English communication skills for explaining financial insights clearly.

  • High integrity and strong commitment to confidentiality.

Required Skills:

Experience or familiarity with Xero accounting software. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Familiarity with Dext or Lightyear is an advantage. Understanding of Australian bookkeeping practices preferred. Proactive organized and eager to build bookkeeping experience. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with a team. Willing to learn and adapt to Australian accounting standards and best practices.
