Our Transport Land & Water team in Perth is changing how we design drainage and waterways across some of WAs most complex road and infrastructure projects from new interchanges and freight routes to safer regional highways and resilient transport corridors.

Were looking for a Drainage Engineer who wants to grow quickly work across a diverse project portfolio and help shape more resilient infrastructure for Western Australia.

How will your ideas contribute to shaping whats next

As our new Drainage Engineer youll be an integral part of our roads and highways team with responsibilities including:

• Supporting the design of road and transport drainage systems including pits and pipes open channels culverts and WSUD assets

• Undertaking hydrological and hydraulic assessments for projects from concept through detailed design and construction support

• Building and using models in tools such as 12d HEC-RAS DRAINS ORD and/or TUFLOW (or similar) with support from senior specialists

• Preparing design calculations drawings specifications and technical reports that clearly communicate the drainage solution

• Working with other disciplines (roads bridges geotechnical environment digital) to integrate drainage outcomes into broader project design

• Liaising with Main Roads WA Public Transport Authority local government and utility stakeholders to achieve approvals and ensure designs meet standards and client expectations

• Contributing to continuous improvement of our drainage tools templates and digital workflows including opportunities for automation

What are we looking for from you

Youll be someone who enjoys getting into the technical detail but also understands that good drainage design is about protecting people places and the environment.

You will bring:

• A degree in civil or environmental engineering (or related discipline)

• Roughly 36 years experience in drainage / civil design ideally on transport or land development projects

• Working knowledge of Australian standards Austroads guidance and (ideally) Main Roads WA design requirements

• Some experience with drainage and/or civil design software such as 12d DRAINS TUFLOW and/or Civil 3D

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to quality and constructability

• Good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to document and explain design decisions

• An interest in sustainability WSUD and climate resilience and a desire to work towards chartered status over time
