Associate Nurse Consultant (General)
HK$64893 to HK$96142 per month (HMPS Point 1 9) per month including Monthly Allowance
Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical training and development responsibilities
A. Clinical
1. Support DOM/WM to provide quality patient care in ward/unit using highly developed specialist knowledge.
2. Assist in complex situations and make clinical judgements.
B. Training and development
1. Provide expert leadership and supervision for nursing team within a ward/clinical unit.
2. Provide advanced clinical knowledge and skills and facilitate advanced nursing education. Train and supervise nurse learners and other nurses in advanced nursing specialty training.
3. Supervise the work of junior nurses.
4. Assist cluster NC to provide expert advice to clinical team in the hospital care coordination and communication with community partners if applicable.
Specialty development responsibilities
A. Service development
1. Support NC in the development and management of clinical procedures and policies.
2. Assist in the development of care management plans and innovative clinical practice models.
3. Contribute to analyses of current practice and the impact of new directions on the clinical specialty service.
4. Oversee and coordinate services and projects within the department and across disciplines.
5. Develop strategies to empower patients and carers.
B. Research evidence based practice and audit
1. Conduct research and apply related findings in service.
2. Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to the specialty for clinical effectiveness.
3. Support monitoring of the latest development of specialty and introduce new technology and advancement as appropriate.
4. Initiate and participate in evidence based practice.
C. IT Innovation
1. Assist in the development and implementation of SMART solutions to enhance efficiency safety and sustainability.
Entry Requirements
1. Holder of a valid Registered Nurse practicing certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong (NCHK).
2. Qualification in advanced nursing specialty *.
3. A degree in Nursing or equivalent.
4. 5 years or more post-registration experience in healthcare of which at least 3 years is in the related specialty and 2 years supervisory experience.
* Qualification in advanced nursing specialty refers to recognized post-registration certificate or post-graduate certificate/diploma course in nursing specialty or Master in nursing #or related discipline with considerable coverage on a relevant nursing specialty.
# Only post-registration Master in nursing programmes are accepted.
Preferable Attributes / Exposure
1. Nursing expertise in related specialty and clinical leadership with knowledge of clinical advancement and nursing practice.
2. Contribution to professional development including research/evidence-based practice
3. Ability to conduct research and experience in quality improvement and research activities.
4. Holder of a valid Voluntary Scheme on Advanced and Specialised Nursing Practice certificate issued by the NCHK.
