The Watch Refinisher plays a vital role in supporting our Watchmakers and maintaining the high standards of craftsmanship Reis-Nichols is known for. This position is responsible for polishing refinishing and preparing timepieces with precision and care while following established inventory and operational procedures to ensure a smooth repair workflow. Key ResponsibilitiesPolish and refinish watch cases bracelets and clasps to restore original finishes on watches ranging from $20 to $50000 in value. Use specialized tools and techniques to remove imperfections while preserving the integrity of each piece. Partner with Watchmakers and Merchandising Coordinators to ensure proper handling of timepieces before and after polishing. Perform quality control checks to maintain exceptional customer service and craftsmanship standards. Replace watch batteries. Disassemble and reassemble watch cases using professional-grade equipment. Size watch straps and bracelets. Maintain a clean organized workstation and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Skills & CompetenciesExceptional attention to detail and appreciation for precision craftsmanship. Strong eyehand coordination. Excellent time management and ability to meet quick deadlines. Positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to collaborate professionally with internal team members and external partners. Ability to sit focus and work on small components for extended periods of time.
RequirementsPrevious experience in watch polishing jewelry finishing or metal refinishing required. Training or certification in watchmaking or metal refinishing is highly preferred. Working knowledge of refinishing techniques and finishes with experience handling luxury timepieces. Familiarity with polishing tools such as lathes buffing wheels and abrasive compounds. Ability to work a flexible schedule including Saturdays both independently and as part of a team. Must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.
Physical DemandsWork is performed in a professional office and shop environment using standard office and polishing equipment. Requires excellent vision and manual dexterity for handling small parts. Ability to concentrate on detailed work for extended periods. Ability to sit stand and use tools for prolonged periods. Ability to lift materials and equipment up to 40 lbs. Regularly required to talk listen stand walk use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. May involve climbing stairs and extended periods of standing or sitting.
