We are looking for an enthusiastic Lead Software Engineer to work at the forefront of our cloud modernisation within our Credit & Verification Services.
Were a house building modern cloud-native applications using the latest 8. All new services are developed with a forward-looking mindset and we actively evaluate emerging features and tools to continuously improve our engineering practices.
Our architecture is built onKubernetes (EKS) enabling us to run scalable resilient microservices in the cloud. On top of this we leverage a wide range ofAWS services (Lambda Kinesis Dynamo and RDS to name just a few) to enhance performance observability and integration across our platform.
We place a strong emphasis onquality and automation employing a variety of testing strategies including unit integration and behaviour-driven testing. Our CI/CD pipelines powered by modern DevOps tooling ensure smooth and reliable delivery through all stages of our environments.
You will be part of a high-performance engineering team as a Lead Engineer that delivers the product backlog of Ascend Cloud Foundation will work closely with other Software Engineers to both maintain existing systems and build our cloud-native microservices and web applications using the latest technologies and architectural patterns
Key Responsibilities:
- Working as a lead engineer in an agile team to deliver high-quality software solutions within agreed timelines ensuring alignment with business requirements and agile principles.
- Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the design development and delivery of high-quality software solutions ensuring alignment with business goals and agile principles.
- Take ownership of the overall technical architecture ensuring scalability performance security and maintainability of the software systems.
- Champion the adoption of best practices in software development including clean code maintainability efficient coding standards and DevSecOps practices.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional team members including product owners designers QA and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with business objectives.
- Lead technical discussions and decision-making processes ensuring alignment with architectural standards long-term technical strategy and business goals.
- Manage technical risks and issues proactively identifying potential challenges and developing mitigation strategies.
- Provide clear and concise documentation for code processes and system architecture to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintainability for yourself and the team.
- Translating business requirements to clean scalable code ensuring minimal defects for yourself and the team.
- Mentor and guide senior & junior developers providing technical expertise code reviews.
- Lead by example demonstrating a strong work ethic commitment to quality and a passion for technology and innovation.
Qualifications :
- Qualified with a degree Computer Science MCA in Computer Science Bachelor of Technology in Engineering or higher.
- Minimum 10 years of experience working in software development with at least X years of experience leading a team currently.
- Proven experience leading and collaborating within cross-functional teams throughout the full software development lifecycle leveraging Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum Kanban) to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on setting clear direction aligning team efforts with organizational goals and maintaining high levels of motivation and engagement across the team.
- Skilled in working with geographically distributed teams fostering inclusive collaboration across diverse cultures and backgrounds to enhance productivity and innovation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas solutions and feedback clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Adept at managing conflict constructively and facilitating consensus.
- Proven track record of building secure mission-critical high-volume transaction web-based software systems preferably in regulated environments (finance and insurance industries).
- Passionate in solving technical business problems designing solutions and developing.
- Proficient in translating business requirement to clean scalable code defined as the acceptance criteria with the applicable design patterns and security best practices
- Strong individual contributor and team player capable of collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.
Required Technical Skills/Knowledge:
- Hands-on experience 6 Core Framework building scalable maintainable and performant REST/SOAP/RPC APIs with microservice or SOA architectures using with proficiency in C#.
- Proficient in writing high-quality unit and integration tests usingxUnit or nUnit with hands-on experience inTest-Driven Development (TDD)andBehaviour-Driven Development (BDD). Skilled in using mocking frameworks to ensure test reliability and alignment with acceptance criteria.
- Skilled in creating and reviewing high-level and low-level design documents. Strong understanding of architectural principles clean architecture SOLID principles OOP design patterns and concurrency concepts. Collaborates effectively with architects and business stakeholders to ensure optimal design outcomes.
- Committed to writing clean scalable and secure code. Experienced in conducting code reviews and applying design patterns and security best practices. Familiar with static code analysis tools and vulnerability management
- Proficient in working with either SQL or NoSQL databases. Hands-on experience with Entity Framework and data modelling for performance and scalability.
- Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized application development deployment and orchestration.
- Working experience of any source control preferably git (e.g. Bitbucket GitHub Gitlab)
- Strong knowledge and experience of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices
- Passionate about mentoring and upskilling junior developers. Encourages knowledge sharing and fosters a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Identifying creating maintaining or re-using existing / new frameworks as much as possible.
- Experience on static code quality analysis tools vulnerability management.
Useful & Desirable skills:
- Working and expertise in using GEN AI tools for software development & testing.
- Experience with Python/Scala or big data frameworks (e.g. spark) Batch Processing.
- Working knowledge or certifications relevant to public cloud preferably AWS.
- Experience with any of streaming messaging event bus technologies while build event driven architecture either Kafka Event Bridge Kinesis Rabbit MQ Active MQ or any other message bus.
- Familiarity withInfrastructure as Code (IaC)usingTerraformor AWS CloudFormation or Cloud Development Kit.
- Working knowledge in setting up CI CD tools like Jenkins GitHub Actions Gitlab CI.
- Experience working with Domain Driven Design Event Driven Architecture.
