Adult Safeguarding Team

Contract: Full time permanent

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join the Walsall Adult Safeguarding Hub as an Advanced Practitioner.

About the job:

  • The safeguarding hub receives all safeguarding referrals for adults in Walsall
  • The team is social work led and makes decisions about how to respond to safeguarding concerns by analysing presenting risks liaising with partner agencies adults and their representatives sharing and gathering information appropriately and applying the principles of section 42 of the Care Act 2014.
  • You along with two other advanced practitioners are responsible for the day-to-day practice of the social workers and safeguarding research officers
  • As an advanced practitioner you will prioritise and allocate concerns support the staff group to manage their workload effective ensuring compliance with the principles of the Care Act 2014 and chair strategy meetings as required.
  • Working in partnership with the team manager you will contribute to the operational functioning of the team ensure practice is of the highest standard providing staff supervision and identifying and development needs.
  • You will represent the safeguarding hub at internal and partnership information sharing meetings such as MARAC and MAPPA meetings

About you:

You must be a registered social worker with:

  • A minimum of two years post qualifying experience
  • Experience of managing complex case work and of supervising staff students and/or apprentices.
  • A post-qualifying award such as Practice Educator Best Interest Assessor Advanced Mental Health Practitioner or an equivalent relevant to the role
  • A sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation and guidance including the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and other related legislation.
  • A passion and commitment to working with colleagues professionals and other agencies to achieve the best possible outcome relating to allegations of adults being at risk or experiencing various forms of abuse.
  • The ability to demonstrate competence knowledge and the ability as an advanced practitioner as outlined in the job description and person specification.
