The Donor Development Specialist is responsible for executing Habitats donor program to help meet the organizations fundraising goal and build the individual and group donor base. This position is a key role in the Resource & Development Team which is responsible for a multi-million-dollar annual philanthropic revenue donor relations communications and volunteer labor required for Habitat for Humanity Lee and Hendry Counties to fulfill its mission. - Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and engagements.
- Shows professionalism poise and confidence when interacting with all constituents.
- Has a positive attitude is proactive in promoting the Habitat mission and is eager to excel in all undertakings.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.
- Demonstrates excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects on a deadline at one time with quality and efficiency.
- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the organizations values: integrity teamwork and mission focus.
Education & Experience: - Bachelors degree in communications non-profit management or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in sales/communications and/or fundraising/nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor/client sources).
- Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time.
- Knowledge and understanding of charitable giving and financial development.
- Demonstrates the ability to be persistent and authentic.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Understanding and appreciation of the mission of Habitat for Humanity.
- Valid Florida drivers license.
- Acceptable background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB: - Regularly spend hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
- Occasionally spend hours standing.
- Regularly speaks clearly so listeners can understand.
- Frequently bend to file and maintain files.
- Occasionally lift 5-20 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS: - Ability to work both in the office and at various worksites; ability to work outside of normal working hours including events or weekends during peak season with advance notice.
- Generally quiet office environment.
