Under the general guidance of the University Librarian the Vancouver Campus Librarian oversees the campus library and coordinates planning implementation and problem-solving for all Vancouver branch library functions.
Key areas of responsibility include reference services library user and information literacy instruction access services including circulation and reserves and the hiring and supervision of library student workers. Secondary areas of responsibility include technical services support library programming and LibGuides maintenance and development.
Education/Experience:
- MLS MIS MLIS degree or equivalent from an ALA-accredited programis required
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in an academic library including:
- Information literacy and library user instruction in a classroom setting and online
- Creation of lesson plans learning objectives andinstructional materials
- Outreach to and collaboration with teaching faculty
- Reference services and research consultations for students and faculty
- Experience with Alma/Primo VE or a similar integrated library system
- Supervisory experience
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Reference and Instruction:
- Works with faculty to understand and meet their students information literacy and library instruction needs; develops teaches and assesses classroom library instruction and orientation sessions for all Vancouver campus programs
- Provides one-on-one reference consultations to students and faculty on research skills and concepts including utilization of library databases systematic reviews/meta-analysis conducting literature reviews and using citation management software
- Collaborates with other Adler librarians on developing and presenting library workshops
- Creates and maintains LibGuides and other instructional support materials
Access Services:
- Oversees patron-facing circulation functions
- Hires trains and supervises library student workers to staff the library Information Desk providing circulation and ready reference; provides backup ready reference and circulation service
- Coordinates reserve titles each semester
- Assists with the management and circulation of the PsyD programs assessment collection in collaboration with the PsyD Program Assistant. This will include setting up Springshares LibCal for test kit circulation.
- Oversees and assists with processing interlibrary loan requests for Vancouver patrons. This will include collaborating with Adlers Systems & Access Librarian and BCELN on bringing ILLUME services to Adlers Vancouver campus.
- Acquires and catalogues new materials adhering to RDA cataloguing principles and curates the Vancouver Indigenous collection.
Additional:
- Collects and analyzes statistical data on Vancouver Campus Library operations reference and instruction
- Manages the Vancouver campus Library budget
- Works on special projects for the University Library and the Vancouver Campus; serves on committees and represents the Vancouver Campus Library in other capacities as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
