Position Overview
The Junior School Teacher-Librarian ensures that library programs resources and learning spaces support the instructional programs and developmental needs of students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5. The role partners closely with classroom and specialist teachers to foster a love of reading and inquiry and to intentionally build foundational literacy and research skills aligned with curricular outcomes and age-appropriate learning goals. The Teacher-Librarian also delivers weekly instruction to students from JK to Grade 5 and provides a positive school culture through whole school events and co-curricular leadership.

What Youll Bring
You will hold a valid BC teaching certificate and bring a strong foundation in inquiry-based and project-based learning. Training and experience as a Teacher-Librarian and/or within the IB framework is preferred but not required. You are an innovative reflective educator with a growth mindset and a commitment to continuous professional learning staying current in best practices in a Learning Commons model early literacy inquiry and educational research. Flexible and highly collaborative you contribute to the ongoing evolution of a dynamic Junior School Learning Commons and foster a joyful engaging learning environment that nurtures curiosity creativity and a lifelong love of learning across Pre-K to Grade 5.

You will demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and integrity be driven to succeed and always put relationships first. You will be an avid reader ensuring a robust collection of books and resources are added annually to our collection. You will be responsible for the functioning of the library through the purchasing of materials and work closely with the library technician. An understanding of budgets and prioritizing funds to foster appropriate purchasing is important. An ability to learn and adapt quickly to various platforms digital tools and online resources is essential. You will have a natural ability to connect with others be tactful and diplomatic in your approach and ultimately help our students do their best through truth and courage.
