About the role
selectability is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented management accountant to play a pivotal role in driving financial performance and supporting strategic decision-making. This position is responsible for delivering accurate and timely management reporting providing insightful analysis and partnering with operational leaders to enhance transparency and cost control. The role involves overseeing key financial processes including month-end close budgeting forecasting and compliance while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement in systems and processes. With a strong focus on data-driven insights the management accountant will help monitor performance against KPIs maintain robust financial models and ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting standards. This position will also have positions within the Finance team reporting to them providing leadership and guidance to ensure high-quality outputs and professional development.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- leading month-end close processes including journals allocations accruals and balance sheet reviews
- preparing accurate and timely management reports with meaningful commentary to support decision-making
- conducting detailed variance analysis across cost centres sites and operational KPIs
- supporting annual budgeting and forecasting cycles to ensure robust financial planning
- providing financial insights to operational leaders enhancing transparency around cost drivers and performance
- analysing operational data to identify trends risks and commercial opportunities
- assisting with compliance audit requirements internal controls and governance standards
- driving continuous improvement initiatives and optimising financial systems and processes
- monitoring performance against KPIs and delivering actionable insights to improve outcomes
- partnering with business units to support cost control and profitability analysis
- maintaining financial models to enable informed decision-making
- ensuring compliance with internal controls and adherence to accounting standards
About you
To be considered for this rewarding role you will have:
- demonstrated experience in managing finance teams or leading financial operations
- experience and competence at an advanced level in the use of MYOB (or similar) and the Microsoft office suite particularly Excel (highly desirable)
- understanding of job costing processes
- demonstrated understanding of the operation of the SCHADS /AGED/ NURSES awards
- excellent communication skills both verbal and written including presentation skills
- highly developed analytical problem solving and numerical skills including the ability to compile analyse data and prepare reports
- a demonstrated high level of attention to detail with a consistent approach
- a demonstrated ability to prioritise conflicting priorities as required
- ability to work under minimal supervision with the capacity to exercise initiative in the application of work processes and procedures and establish objectives and outcomes
Role requirements
- must hold a Bachelor in Business or Commerce majoring in Accounting or Finance; or have 8 years experience in a similar position
- completion of Chartered Accountants (CA) Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or equivalent qualification (desirable)
- occasional out of hours work may be required from time to time
- some travel to selectability sites may be required from time to time
- a Child Safety & Personal History Screening check
- a Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Quality Safety & You completion certificate (or the ability to obtain)
- a current minimum P1 C class Queensland drivers licence
