Job Summary

Assistant Accountant

Location: Kensington

Permanent Part-Time

60 hours/fortnight

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Assistant Accountant is responsible for providing end to end support across the Accounts Payable function assisting with fleet coordination activities and completing a range of monthly finance tasks that contribute to accurate financial reporting.

DUTIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the accounts payable function with support from the Accounts Officer ensuring accurate and timely invoice entry the preparation of weekly and ad hoc bank payments.
  • Coordinate the administration of fleet vehicles including vehicle changeovers and maintain relevant documentation and schedules.
  • Assist with preparation of supplier accruals at end of month.
  • Assist with month-end closing process general journal preparations and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with the preparation of prepayment journals and schedules.
  • Assist with corporate credit card management including processing transactions and verifying receipts.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of documentation for the annual audit and any other required reporting.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will be highly organised and have strong communication skills together with the following:

  • Relevant qualification in accounting.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar finance role with a focus on accounts payable transactional processing.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles particularly accounts payable general ledger and month-end processes.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office particularly Excel and experience with financial software systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in data entry and reconciliation tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service mindset.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative and proactive team player with a positive and professional attitude.
