Job Summary

Are you passionate about caring for Country biodiversity and working alongside Traditional Owners to guide better outcomes for land water and culture

Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) are seeking a Biodiversity Project Officer to support our Caring for Country team. The role helps delivers projects that protect heal and strengthen Wadawurrung Country guided by the Paeert Tjaara Dja Lets make Country good together 2020-2030.

This role works across Ballarat Bostock (Ballan) Geelong and surrounding Wadawurrung Country. Working closely with Traditional Owners Elders land managers and partners to support on Country activities build strong relationships and ensure projects are delivered respectfully and effectively.

About Us

WTOAC is the Registered Aboriginal Party for Wadawurrung Country. We protect cultural heritage care for Country and support the aspirations of Wadawurrung people. We are governed by a Board of Traditional Owners representing the Wadawurrung family groups.

Key responsibilities

Support delivery of biodiversity and Healthy Country plan projects

Facilitate engagement with Traditional Owners Elders and community

Build partnerships with land managers councils CMAs and environmental agencies

Coordinate site visits training activities and capacity building sessions

Contribute to project planning reporting and action plans

Promote Wadawurrung cultural values in all project work

What you will bring

Experience or qualifications in Natural Resource Management (or similar)

Ability to connect and collaborate with Traditional Owners and a wide range of stakeholders

Understanding of land water and coastal Country management

Strong communication and relationship building skills

Ability to manage timelines and meet deadlines

Confidence working independently and part of a team

Commitment to cultural safety and Aboriginal self-determination

Good written verbal and organisational skills

Willingness to travel regularly across Wadawurrung Country
