This role is responsible for ensuring end-to-end quality across applications within Hiscox London market. This role focuses on embedding quality from design through deployment driving process improvements and implementing automation-first strategies. The position requires good technical expertise in test automation proactive risk management and collaboration across geographically distributed teams to deliver reliable high-performing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Take shared responsibility for quality outcomes within assigned applications ensuring testing and validation are carried out effectively.
- Ensure quality is embedded from design through deployment proactively identifying risks and gaps.
- Drive process improvements to enhance the quality and efficiency of deliverables.
- Define and enforce quality standards best practices and acceptance criteria for all deliverables.
- Debugging and fixing scheduled automation pack runs as part of regular script maintenance.
- Design develop and maintain automated test scripts for functional regression and integration testing
- Develop automated tests for both UI and API using existing framework.
- Learn and apply programming best practices (e.g. design patterns).
- Contribute to code reviews and collaborate on unit/integration test strategies.
- Contribute features to the existing automation frameworks.
- Communicating and presenting ideas to colleagues in all parts of the wider business.
- Working with QA engineers and testers located in multiple geographic locations.
Requirements and Experience
- Sound understanding of testing methodologies including behaviour-driven testing unit testing and data-driven testing.
- Proficiency in any programming/ scripting language and Handson experience in writing automated tests.
- Ability to take an automation-first approach to quality engineering.
- Experience with building API testing scripts
- Experience developing testing frameworks for web applications using tools such as Playwright/Selenium.
- Behaviour-driven testing of executable specifications e.g. using Gherkin.
- Good understanding of DevOps principles.
- Experience working in a truly agile style.
- Experience in working with version control tools like git.
- Commercial savvy necessary to ensure work is prioritised and targeted appropriately.
- Good Team Player
- Excellent Communication skill.

- Experience in working with RestSharp
- Experience building tests into Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Experience performance and volume testing APIs using tools like Jmeter (or similar).
