The Therapeutic Stabilization Center (housed at the Brockton Therapeutic Day School) is designed to meet the needs of students in grades 1-12 who have temporarily been removed from their home school due to a major emotional or mental health crisis or ongoing mental health challenge/s. Students at the TSC may have struggled with mental health challenges school refusal social emotional challenges or may be coming from a recent hospital step down that requires re-acclimation to a school environment. Through a comprehensive assessment lasting up to 45 days the center team including a teacher behaviorist and therapeutic support counselor will work to gain an understanding of each student and create an action plan to support students in successfully re-entering their home school building. A psychiatrist will be available on an as needed basis to perform psychiatric evaluations. At the end of the assessment period school teams will meet to discuss the student plan and BSC staff will assist in transitioning students back to their home school or therapeutic day school with important tools to support their social emotional and mental health goals. QUALIFICATIONS: as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst or Licensed Applied Behavior experience working with students who present with emotional and mental health challenges in school experience in the development of Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans as well as with conducting comprehensive therapeutic evaluations of students. organizational skills and communication Care TrainedDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: under the supervision of the Coordinator of School Based Therapeutic and Behavioral positive relationships with students staff parents and/or case management and therapeutic care of students enrolled in the TSC. comprehensive evaluations and assessment of students enrolled in the TSC. individual group and whole class counseling and social skills and produce clinical reports and behavior support IEP and or Section 504 meetings and consult to school staff and and collaborate with classroom teachers administrators and other school personnel on behalf of a strong understanding of community-based resources and build a network of potential referral sources. student and parents/guardians with referrals to community-based and promote equity and access for all students in accordance with the schools academic mission and school improvement plan. regularly with families and caregivers through conferences phone calls home visits (accompanied by a designated BPS employee) and email to discuss students progress in an effort to engage all families in the success of their cultural competency and a respect for the diversity of the duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or designee.
