You will need to live within commuting distance to our 1941 Stryker Way Portage MI
You will need to be in the office 5 days a week.
As a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer on our OI R&D team youll design innovative surgical power tool technologies collaborate closely with customers and lead projects from concept to commercialization.
What You Will Do:
Key Responsibilities:
- Design develop and evaluate components and systems for medical devices translating complex user needs into clear system designs and specifications.
- Conduct advanced prototyping testing and troubleshooting to validate and optimize designs.
- Guide cross-functional teams in technology exploration implementation and product development.
- Drive competitive strategies by leveraging market trends clinical insights and innovation opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with medical device standards regulatory requirements and internal R&D processes.
- Mentor team members promote knowledge sharing and contribute to documentation and design history files.
- Partner effectively with R&D Quality Manufacturing Regulatory Marketing and Project Management to deliver high-quality results.
- Lead process improvements prototype development and technical initiatives while inspiring collaboration across teams.
What You Need
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Biomedical Engineering or a closely related field with directly relevant experience.
- 6 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Creo preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in customer-centered design and DFM principles.
- Experience with mechanical/electro-mechanical assemblies GD&T and CAE tools.
- Strong understanding of materials manufacturing methods and product optimization.
- Clear communication of technical plans to diverse teams.
Travel Percentage: 10%
