We are looking for a candidate who can drive to various construction jobsites within Kentucky/Indiana area and is able to load and unload their truck with assistance from our field technicians. This individual should be able to pass a DOT physical as well as renewing it yearly. Additionally this person would also assist our shipping and receiving clerk (S&R Clerk) in his/her duties as needed when deliveries are completed for the day.
- Delivering tools material and equipment (i.e. job boxes ladders duct jacks etc.)
- Inspecting vehicle daily to ensure it is safe to operate on the road per DOT/Weight station guidelines
- Overseeing work to anticipate detect and address factors that impede operations
- Securing materials/equipment properly to truck per DOT/Weight station guidelines
- Assisting shipping and receiving clerk as needed
- Working/coordinating with PMs OM Superintendents and foreman on delivering materials/equipment to and from job sites as needed
- Able to lift up to 80lbs with help and carry awkward items such as 20ft long pipe with help
- Able to climb up and down ladders/trucks
- Ability to drive Stake Bed Trucks and trailer as needed.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Assisting with warehouse/stockyard staging/clean up
- Help shipping and receiving clerk monitor inventory levels and replenishing supplies as needed
- Assisting with vehicle fleet/maintenance (Dropping off trucks for repairs)
- Help shipping and receiving clerk perform administrative tasks such as updating and filing equipment orders receiving log and tool tracking
- Meet with management to deliver feedback and develop work optimization strategies
- Assist with rigging for crane lift operations
- Assist with heavy equipment deliveries with S&R Clerk (Skid steer & mini excavator)
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Proven work experience as a Delivery Driver and/or Shipping & Receiving Clerk or similar role
- A great understanding of work optimization techniques
- Good knowledge of the applicable safety regulations and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to use Microsoft Office as needed
- Ability to multitask and change direction quickly
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Must be 21 with a valid Drivers License and Clean Driving Record
- Be able to pass a DOT Physical
- Able to operate sit down forklift
- Familiar with OSHA standards

What is a typical day for a construction delivery driver at KCC
A normal day would consist of traveling within Louisville or surrounding towns/cities to our jobsites to deliver materials for both plumbing and hvac in our construction department. Our jobsites can vary from Louisville southern Indiana (Jeffersonville New Albany etc.) Oldham County Simpsonville and Shepherdsville. Our driver would be responsible for delivering tools and materials to foreman/apprentices per delivery schedule coordinated from our S&R clerk. The driver would have help and support from both the guys on the field and S&R Clerk.
What are the overall hours/schedule
Depending on the day at hand you would typically start at 7AM/7:30AM and typically off around 3:30PM/4PM. This is a Monday-Friday position with an occasional Saturday (a few days a year) depending on the needs of a specific job/task. Some days can go over especially with crane lifts due to late arrivals and making sure equipment is set safely or with uncontrollable things such as getting stuck in traffic. We typically do crane lifts once or twice per jobsite.
Who does the Delivery Driver work with/report to
Our driver would work directly with/report to the shipping and receiving clerk for all daily deliveries and tasks. This would include working together to load/unload jobsites as needed tracking tools/materials in the warehouse and maintaining vehicle fleet. They would additionally coordinate deliveries with PMs/OM Superintendents and Foreman on jobsites when delivery. This would include calling ahead to inform them of missing items when picking up orders or reporting delays due to traffic.
