Job Summary

Camels Hump Middle School is looking for a highly collaborative student-centered school counselor to join our guidance team for a long-term substitute position. This is a .6 position with a need for candidates to work Monday Wednesday and Friday from February 13 - May 22 2026. CHMS believes in the benefits of a comprehensive developmental guidance program; we teach small educational guidance groups provide individual and small group support and collaborate with teacher teams special educators and administrators in order to meet the social-emotional needs of all students.

Camels Hump Middle School located in Richmond VT is a middle school consisting of approximately 330 students in grades 5-8. We have grade-level teams with two to four core teachers per team. Our teaching model includes differentiated instruction in collaboration with special educators in all Math and ELA -teaching plays a key role in our teaching and learning addition we have an advisory system that incorporates our schools values of kindness inclusivity equity honoring all perspectives and ensuring we create safe and brave spaces for all students.

The school counselor will be responsible for delivering social-emotional programming within the guidance curriculum and in coordination with staff for grades 5-8. Candidates should possess a strong ability to nurture and maintain ongoing relationships with students families staff and outside support agencies. Knowledge of health and wellness programming for middle school students is highly desired. Additional desired skills include empathy patience effective communication organizational skills critical thinking cultural competence and collaboration.
