Description

The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach supports the overall mission of the Athletics Department by assisting in the design implementation and supervision of strength and conditioning programs for all varsity athletic teams. This position plays a vital role in promoting student-athlete performance health and well-being in alignment with NCAA Division III philosophy and institutional values.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of evidence-based strength speed agility flexibility and conditioning programs for a variety of mens and womens sports.
  • Instruct and supervise student-athletes in proper and safe strength and conditioning techniques.
  • Monitor student-athlete progress and adapt training programs as needed to optimize performance and reduce injury risk.
  • Collaborate with sport coaches athletic trainers and other athletics staff to ensure effective communication regarding student-athlete health and performance.
  • Maintain a clean safe and organized strength and conditioning facility that adheres to department and institutional policies.
  • Assist with the scheduling and daily operation of the weight room including equipment maintenance and inventory.
  • Support the Strength and Conditioning Department with testing data tracking and performance evaluations.
  • Contribute to the holistic development of student-athletes promoting values consistent with the NCAA Division III philosophy of balancing academics athletics and personal growth.
  • Participate in department meetings professional development opportunities and community engagement initiatives as requested.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Exercise Science Kinesiology Physical Education or a related field.
  • Current certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS NSCA) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC CSCCa).
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles exercise technique and program design.
  • Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the Division III philosophy emphasizing student-athlete well-being and academic achievement.

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in a related field.
  • Previous experience working with collegiate student-athletes particularly at the NCAA Division III level.
  • Experience with performance tracking software and/or data analysis tools.

This is a 10-month position supported by current funding for 15 months (January-June 2026; September 2026-May 2027) with the possibility of continuation beyond that.
