Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Aeroacoustics Engineer Level 2/3 with thermodynamics heat transfer and fluid flow knowledge for the development and ongoing support of new and existing turbines bearings heat exchangers and other system components used in surface ship and submarine propulsion and power generation systems for the US Navy based out of Sunnyvale CA.
What Youll get to Do:
Our Sunnyvale site specializes in the development manufacture assembly and testing of propulsion and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. The candidate selected will apply their skills to support current and future Navy Power & Propulsion Turbomachinery development.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Develop and integrate acoustic reduction technologies.
Develop and implement predictive analysis codes; builds and tests physical models; designs develops and builds test and verification equipment; and develops tests and integrates acoustic solutions.
Conduct planning and roadmapping for the development of novel acoustics technologies and innovative designs.
Works closely with other disciplines to optimize the integration of acoustic technologies.

Basic Qualifications for Aeroacoustics Engineer Level 2:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Aerospace or related Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2 years related experience; or Masters degree in Mechanical Aerospace or related Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) discipline with no related experience
Comprehensive understanding of sound generation and acoustics transmission through space/materials.
Experience in acoustic test/measurement data processing and analysis.
Must be a US citizen
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret security clearance.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Aeroacoustics Engineer Level 3:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Aerospace or related Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years related experience; or Masters degree in Mechanical Aerospace or related Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 3 years related experience. or PhD in Mechanical Aerospace Electrical Engineering or related Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) discipline with no related experience.
Comprehensive understanding of sound generation and acoustics transmission through space/materials.
Experience in acoustic test/measurement data processing and analysis.
Must be a US citizen
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Secret clearance.
Masters degree or higher in Aerospace Mechanical or a closely related engineering discipline.
