Salary Range:
$160000-$175000 Annually

CommonBond Communities invites qualified applicants to apply for the Vice President of Resource Development positionat our Central Office in Saint Paul MN. CommonBond is completing a successful 5-year comprehensive resource development campaign that is anticipated to yield approximately $80M in philanthropy and impact investments in support of the organizations mission. This campaign not only helped sustain the organization through the pandemic but has also expanded the reach of the organizations signature Advantage Services resident programing supported the construction or rehab of 2200 homes and has increased advocacy capacity. A secondary goal of expanding the donor base has also been accomplished. The next leader of Resource Development will have the opportunity to build on this momentum and evolve the giving and engagement work of the organization further.

Reporting Relationships

The Vice President of Resource Development reports to the Chief Community Impact Officer and is responsible for managing a team of five staff. This VP will also work closely with the senior leadership team and CEO in strategic fundraising efforts.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute short- and long-term fundraising plans that reflect the environment and build momentum coming out of the campaign.
Partner with Advantage Services Leadership to ensure alignment between programs and resources.
Collaborate with the CFO on budget and revenue forecasting.
Lead major fundraising initiatives and represent CommonBond externally.
Provide staff leadership to relevant board committees.

Fundraising Strategy & Execution

Manage a portfolio of 60 major and principal donors.
Lead donor cultivation solicitation and stewardship efforts.
Oversee diverse revenue streams including major gifts annual funds program-related investments and other contributions.

Team Leadership

Supervise and mentor development staff to support annual fundraising goals.
Partner with the CEO and senior leadership team in donor engagement and stewardship.
Recruit develop and retain a high-performance development team.

Portfolio Management

Direct resources to optimize institutional and individual giving.
Use Raisers Edge to track and analyze donor engagement.
Facilitate team meetings and portfolio reviews with staff and volunteers.
Engage board and volunteers in donor cultivation.

Position Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an experienced strategic fundraising leader who has successfully managed development teams and collaborated closely with CEOs senior leaders board members and key stakeholders. They bring a strong track record in diversifying revenue streams and leading major campaigns. Successful candidates will have deep nonprofit fundraising experience including raising six- and seven-figure gifts cultivating major gifts overseeing fundraising operations strengthening community engagement and creating a culture of philanthropy across a complex organization.

Fundraising Expertise: Demonstrates the ability to lead a nonprofit development function with measurable success.
Strategic Thinking: Skilled at designing developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies that align with organizational mission and goals including post-capital campaign priorities and long-term financial stability.
Relationship Building: Engages donors and stakeholders effectively cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with donors prospects board members and community leaders.
Capital Campaign Management: Oversees the completion of a capital campaign ensuring all pledges are fulfilled and campaign goals are achieved.
Identify New Opportunities: Continuously identify new fundraising opportunities and innovative approaches to grow the donor base and diversify funding streams.
Budget Management: Develops and manages fundraising budgets allocating resources strategically and reporting progress expenses and revenue to leadership and the board.
Team Leadership: Leads and mentors a development team fostering collaboration creativity accountability and high performance.
Cross-department Collaboration: Works effectively with other departments within the organization to align fundraising with broader initiatives and priorities.
Staff Development: Trains equips and supports staff in donor engagement and fundraising activities.
Donor Research & Data Management: Uses data analytics and CRM systems to understand donor trends improve targeting and inform fundraising strategy.
Evaluation & Reporting: Evaluates fundraising initiatives for effectiveness communicates impact to stakeholders and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree or equivalent
work experience.
Strong interpersonal verbal and
written communication skills.


Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is in the $160000 $175000 range. The actual base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may be adjusted based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills location and experience.
