Overview

Previous GP Surgery experience desirable

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team and provide exceptional care to individuals in need. As a Healthcare Assistant you will play a crucial role in supporting patients with their day-to-day requirements and ensuring they receive the highest standard of care. Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care tasks including bathing dressing grooming and eating while respecting their dignity and privacy.
  • Support allied health professionals and nursing staff in delivering clinical and therapeutic care.
  • Monitor and record patients vital signs such as temperature pulse and blood pressure ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Help patients maintain mobility and engage in light physical activities as instructed by healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain a clean safe and organized environment in patient rooms and healthcare facilities.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families providing emotional support and addressing inquiries in a compassionate manner.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations infection control policies and workplace procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and stay updated with healthcare best practices.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or allied health role is preferred but not mandatory; full training will be provided.
  • A strong passion for offering patient-centered care and making a positive impact in the lives of others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Caring and empathetic nature with a commitment to respecting diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare practices and medical terminology is an advantage.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks such as lifting moving patients and standing for extended periods.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain these certifications upon employment.

Day-to-day

  • Start the day by reviewing patient care plans and prioritizing tasks in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Assist patients with their morning routines ensuring they feel comfortable clean and cared for.
  • Support healthcare practitioners during patient check-ups and therapies ensuring smooth operations.
  • Ensure accurate health data collection and reporting updating patient logs as required.
  • Provide emotional support to patients lending an empathetic ear and offering encouragement where necessary.
  • Engage in staff meetings and training sessions to share knowledge and improve practices.
  • Maintain a respectful diverse and welcoming environment for all patients and team members.
