Job Title: Sewing Store Sales & Service Associate
Overview
We are seeking a friendly knowledgeable and hands-on Sewing Store Associate to join our team. This role combines customer service retail sales sewing expertise and basic support for sewing machine lessons and repairs. The ideal candidate is passionate about sewing confident in recommending products and excited to help customers build their skills and find the right tools for their projects.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
Greet customers and provide knowledgeable personalized assistance.
Demonstrate sewing machines and related products explaining features benefits and proper use.
Recommend sewing supplies accessories and classes based on customer needs.
Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
Maintain a clean organized and visually appealing sales floor.
Sewing Expertise & Instruction Support
Provide basic guidance to customers on sewing techniques and machine operation.
Assist with scheduling and preparing for sewing lessons or workshops (e.g. setting up machines gathering materials).
Potentially teach beginner-level lessons if qualified (optional based on skill/interest).
Sewing Machine Repair Support
Receive and document sewing machines brought in for repair.
Perform basic troubleshooting or maintenance tasks when appropriate (threading issues tension adjustments cleaning etc.).
Communicate repair details to technicians and keep customers updated on status.
Operational Tasks
Restock merchandise and ensure inventory is displayed correctly.
Assist with inventory counts and product ordering as needed.
Follow store policies including safety and security procedures.
Required Qualifications
Sewing experience with knowledge of different machine types stitches and sewing techniques.
Retail sales or customer service experience preferably in a craft hobby or specialty store environment.
Strong communication skills and a friendly customer-focused attitude.
Ability to explain technical information in easy-to-understand terms.
Comfort demonstrating machines and working hands-on with equipment.
Preferred Skills
Experience repairing or maintaining sewing machines.
Ability to teach or assist in sewing classes.
Knowledge of quilting embroidery or specialty sewing equipment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move sewing machines and boxes up to 35 lbs.

Compensation: $18.50/hour commission. Deep employee discounts on all products and services offered in store.
Part-Time: 20 hours per week on Monday Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-4pm and Saturdays from 11am-4pm.
