Your mission
Werelooking for a motivated and curious Communications Intern to strengthen ourProgrammeand CommunicationsTeamsat theInternational Civil Society Centreand help coordinate a diverse mix of tasks across our programmes and channels.Youllcollaborate closely with ourCommunicationsManager to keep our communications organised engaging and up to date. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn contribute and build confidence in a nonprofit communications environment.
This internship is ideal for someone who enjoys writing organising information and exploring how communications contribute to meaningful impact. You will gain hands-on experience with digital tools content management and strategic messaging while supporting a variety of projects and events. Together we will ensure our work is communicated clearly creatively and effectively to our international audiences.
Theposition is currentlyat40hours weekly(orless ifthatsrequired by the university). The post holder must beeligible to workin Germanyand meet the requirements for completing aPflichtpraktikum.
Core Responsibilities
As the Communications Internyoullsupport a variety of communications activities across the Centre. Your tasks will help you build a broad foundation of practical communications experience.
This includes the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Content and Editorial Support
- Drafting and editing short pieces for our online channels (e.g. blogs posts newsletters).
- Contributing to content planning and helping keep blog and campaign calendars up to date.
- Ensuring clarity accuracy andappropriate tonein drafted content.
- Digital and Web Support
- Assistingwith updates to our website (WordPress).
- Uploading or refreshing content checking links and reviewing pages for accuracy and accessibility.
- Communications Coordination
- Compiling and maintaining keycontact lists using CRM or spreadsheet tools.
- Supporting communications around online events including announcements reminders and follow-up materials.
- Helping maintain organised communications archive and tracking system.
- General Communications Support
- Contributing to communications strategy discussions reports or project evaluations.
- Assisting with tracking tasks deadlines and internal workflows.
- Providing general support to ensure timely and help ensuretimelyand high-quality delivery across channels.
Your profile
We are looking foran engaged team member who enjoys learning communicating clearly and staying organised. You care about the nonprofit sector and want to develop your communications skills while contributing to meaningful work.
These skills are essential for this role:
- Currently enrolled in universityand be able to undertake aPflichtpraktikumas part of their studies ideally in the second half of aBachelorsdegree or in aMastersprogramme.
- Excellent English skills (C1 or above).
- Basic understanding of WordPress.
- Strong general digital literacy; comfortable using online tools and task managers.
- Familiarity with social media platforms.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word PowerPoint Excel).
- Willingness to learn and apply feedback.
- Ability to organise tasks meet deadlines and follow instructions.
- A collaborative supportive and open working style.
- Genuine interest in communications and civil society topics.
There are other skills that might be beneficial for the role:
- Basic graphic or layout ability using Canva.
- Experience with CRM tools or contact database management.
- Previousexperience or volunteering in the nonprofit sector.
- Experience producing content for websites or social media.
- Basic understanding of communication strategy or campaign planning.
- Interest in accessibility and inclusive communication practices.
