Job Title:Legal Cashier / Accounts Manager
Location:Stony Stratford Milton Keynes
Salary:Competitive Dependent on Experience
Permanent Full-Time:Monday to Friday 9:00am 5:15pm
Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier / Accounts Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the accounts department within a busy and well-established law firm based in Stony Stratford Milton Keynes. This is a key role overseeing all legal finance functions while leading the accounts team and ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the firms accounts in full compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and Law Society/QS practice management standards.
- Manage client account office account and purchase ledger including bank reconciliations bank payments billing and financial queries.
- Produce month-end accounts and prepare monthly management reports.
- Oversee year-end accounts and liaise with external accountants.
- Prepare the audit file and liaise with auditors regarding partnership accounts and the SRA Accountants Report.
- Administer monthly payroll and pension arrangements.
- Complete periodic VAT returns.
- Provide the conveyancing team with timely and accurate transaction information.
- Manage renewals for Professional Indemnity Insurance and Practice Certificates.
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a Legal Cashier or Legal Bookkeeper within a law firm.
- Strong working knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules and legal finance procedures.
- Confident managing client and office accounts independently.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Trustworthy professional and able to work to consistently high standards.
- Comfortable working as part of a dedicated professional team.
Desirable
- Experience preparing audit documentation and dealing with external auditors.
- Background supporting conveyancing departments with transactional reporting.
- Experience managing payroll and pensions in a professional services environment.
